BUG SPRAY+WEDDING DRESS?????

Miranda, on May 26, 2016 at 9:31 PM Posted in Planning 0 8

I'm getting married on a river, and it's been super rainy these last few weeks. I've been hiking around the same river this time of year in the past and it's VERY buggy. I was just wondering for those who've had this experience, what bug spray (if any) are wedding dress safe? I know they make the fast dry/no stick, so just wondering if my dress will be safe...... THANKS!

I think you may have to spot test it and see what happens. My favorite bug spray is lemon eucalyptus oil because it's natural and has no Deet

I always use skin so soft. It's an oil but I have never had issues with clothes

Shoot, I have not thought of this... following. We need bug spray at our venue too!

Maybe start by just bringing a roll of paper towels to make a makeshift bib to protect the top of the dress while someone sprays you down? Although I don't think it will stain the dress, right? I need to research too!

Get the off wipes instead of spray!

What time of day are you getting married? Mosquitos are typically active at dawn and dusk, so if it's an afternoon wedding, you're much less likely to have issues.

You could also eat a lot of garlic the days before your wedding. It's weird but it works. I make a lot of home-cooked Italian food and bugs rarely bother me while they feast on others. "Sweet blood" is a thing, I guess.

    Dryer sheets!

Works the best as a bug repellant.

If your dress has 2 layers, spray the underlayer. If only one layer, spray the inside of it. That way, if it leaves a mark, it hopefully won't be visible.

Also, avoid perfume and scented hairspray.

Can you spray the whole wedding area/grass (take care of guests, too)?
