Buffet options- How many?

Courtney, on February 17, 2020 at 11:59 AM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 20
So we are doing a buffet to give our guests more options. For those of you that are doing a buffet, how many meat, vegetables and side options are you having?

That’s a good idea! We were going to do two meats, but when we did our taste testing, we started to disagree. My FH wants the steak and salmon. I want the steak and bbq chicken because I think chicken is more common and may be a better option for Kids to eat. So I’m not sure what options out of those we should choose form because we both loved the steak but didn’t agree on the second meat option. Do you know what proteins she’s doing?

Two proteins, one vegetarian main, and two sides. That didn't include the 5 appetizers we had, or plated salad & bread.

We did salad and rolls, 3 meats bc my husband wanted tons of meat, a vegan entree (which disappeared bc it was good and most ppl didn’t realize it was vegan lol), and 3 sides

Lol yes we are now debating if we should just do three meats, but have to see if it’s in the budget. How did your prices turn out with having 3 meats? We are having 2 vegetables and then are debating on two other sides or just one.

A bison sirloin and a bruschetta chicken. The vegetarian option was a mushroom dish but I'm 99% sure no one wanted that option and took the actual meat proteins instead. Our caterer planned on most guests taking both proteins.

Yeah I think most people would take the proteins as well. I honestly don’t know anyone that we are inviting that’s a vegetarian so I doubt we will have a vegetarian option (unless someone tells us) but may will just try to have enough sides.

We had two meats, two types of pasta, Chef's choice of grilled veggies and mashed potatoes. We also had a salad course served before the buffet opened. During cocktail hour we had three passed apps. We had wedding cake for dessert and a candy bar that was opened throughout the entire evening. We had a nacho bar as our late night snack.

Two meats were included in our package, so adding the 3rd meat cost an extra $300ish. Which compared to what we were already spending was no big deal. Plus it definitely got eaten so it was worth it to us.

We are doing a salad, bread, two protein options, two sides and a vegetable option. We are also doing some passed appetizers for cocktail hour such as mini ham sandwiches, chips and salsa and fresh fruit. I'm hoping there will be something for everyone!

That sounds good! Seems like everyone has a steak or beef option then chicken. That’s how I want to do it but FH wants salmon and steak because he loved the salmon so much.
