I'm super envious of all you brides NOT in NYC! Lol. It's insanity here as far as venue and catering prices. IN-SANE. That said we're on track ( so far) and doing a Manhattan wedding on a budget of $35K Here's the breakdown so far ( wedding is SEPT 2017)

    Location: NEW YORK, NY

    Guest Count: 70 ( approx)

    Venue/ Reception: $12,000

Catering: $16330 ( the amazing Marcey Brownstein- also this is passed horsdevours and one food station)

Booze: This is where they get ya in NYC - as it has to come from venue. Open bar approx $3700

    Officiant: friend so Free!

Band: Another Favor coming in at only $2500 for a 4 piece band and vocalist ( my fiancé and I are in the Entertainment biz so we know a lot of people... I say don't be afraid to ask for favors : it's your WEDDING! Use the talented people you know! I'd rather pay my friends some cash than strangers and usually they can help you out with pricing.)

Décor: Candle "package" through venue is $600 which I think is nuts but it will look beautiful

Hair and Makeup: Again: Friend doing a favor!!

Ceremony Musician: Again: Favor / Gift from friend who will play guitar, and he's brilliant.

The Venue is requiring me to get two security guards ( again- I feel not necessary but they require it: apprx $250)

No Bridal party. No cake. No favors. Hotel room TBD.

Doing flowers, invitations, dress, shoes, photog and fiancé's attire on our own, separately from this budget.

    YIKES.

Without those things just catering , venue , band , booze, candles and security guards above comes to $35,155. Hi NYC.

Loving this post and feel like it needs another bump! Not married yet but have a good idea from research and what is already booked... a different take, a cruise wedding.

Cruise has to be booked before the wedding can be booked...

5 day cruise in Grand Suite- 1950.00

    Wedding package- 2400.00

(Includes DJ, open bar, food, ceremony, minimal flowers, ice sculpture, cake and DOC for 20 people.)

    Extra guests- 1200.00

    (total of 60 people)

    optional Flowers- $400.00ish

(has to be sillk or real touch, no real flowers)

Sand Ceremony and guestbook (combined) - $250.00

    Bridal party gifts- $100.00

    Dress- 750.00

    Alterations- ???

    Men's attire- ???

    Picture package- 1500.00

    Favors-150.00

Swagbags for those cruising- approx 150.00

    Hotel (night before)- 200.00 budgeted

    Dinner night before- $75.00 (pizza)

Hair and make up for 3 + trial - 450.00

    Paper (invitations etc)- 250.00

Total known expenses so far - $9675.00

This is without adding in the cost of the mens attire, alterations, excursions while on the cruise and drink packages. We could do it a lot cheaper by cutting out some stuff, but not willing too so. Smiley smile
