Budget breakdown

Emma, on May 18, 2019 at 9:37 AM Posted in Planning 0 14
If you feel comfortable please share your budget breakdown. I am looking at videographers and the one I want will cost 5,000 I think that is wild but his videos are amazing. However my photographer is only 2100 and that includes engagement photos as well. Thoughts? Should videography be something we splurge on?

Our photographer is $1,700 includes engagement pics, second shooter, 8 hours of coverage, wedding album, a usb with all images and online gallery. Our videographers consist of a husband and wife team who will hangout with us all day from the getting ready to send off! They are $1,000. So together we are spending $2,700. I'm not sure where you are located but we are in GA. I was quoted about $3,000 from other videographers, but I searched really hard! The photographer was who did my brother's wedding in 2015, so I did get a discount from her.

If you want video but it's not in budget then maybe do Wedit or just do a simple videoography as you wont use it nearly as much as the photography. Also look into deals like black friday or at bridal events. My budget breakdown in 20k for everything, 15k out of our pocket. 11k for my all inclusive venue (minus photography), hoping for 1.5k for photography and possibly videography either through Wedit or a killer deal, 4-5k for honeymoon (disneyworld and universal orlando for a week together), about 1k for rings, 1k for 2 night airbnb stay plus food for my bp and us, 500 for rehersal dinner, 1.5k for dress, won his suit, 1k for gifts/decor/miselenious and 100 for stamps bulk and printed invites/std's. Now this adds to 22-23.1k but am trying to lower some things still like my venue is all customizable, depends on how many guests, not doing favors, looking to find some great deals on things, etc. Dress is already paid for and might get a little more help from family but idk

At first I wasn’t going to do video because once I saw the prices i decided we couldn’t afford it and it wasn’t a necessity, but then I got very lucky in finding a company that does a DJ, photographer, and videographer package all for $3000. Photo and video are there all day from getting ready until the last dance, and no time limit on the DJ.

I think that is a lot of money. A lot of people want a videographer but at the end of the day, the video is hardly ever - if ever - watched. You should invest that money into a different area or not at all. If you have interactive guests, you can look into WeddingMix for video choices.

Our wedding is going to be extremely budgeted and tight. But my photographer is going to be $375 for three hours of coverage.
It does hell that is going to be a courthouse ceremony and a garage type reception though and that we only have invite less than 25 people. But if you have the budget, you can afford it then go for it. I'm sure you won't regret it if it's something you want

I say if you like that particular videographers work and you definitely want a video, then splurge! Try to think about what you'd regret more: 1. The videographer gets booked by another client; or 2. You pay more than initially intended on for a product you want.

It's your day. Do what makes you happy. You can always cut costs in another area of lesser importance.

We ended up booking a videographer after hearing a lot of people say they were super glad they got one. I also felt like I'd never remember what we said during the ceremony because we'd be so nervous so I definitely wanted a video of that and the speeches at the reception. Our grandparents are also SUPER special to us, so we will be having them go outside with the videographer during the reception and record a little message from each of them about life, marriage, ect. and we will have that to cherish forever.

We will be inviting about 120 people.

So far my budget breakdown is as follows:

Photog: $800.00 (great deal, friend of a friend)

    Venue: $3,975.00

    Video: $1,950.00

Decor: approx $350 for all centerpiece items and food display items (not done with decor yet)

    Linens: $246.40

Catering: approx $1,800.00 ($15 per plate)

    Total so far: about $9,200.00

    Original Budget $5,000.00 (LOL)

Personally, i wanted a video more than photos. i felt like it was a nice recap of the event. maybe if you are tight on money you can ask around to see if you know anyone of your guests that are savvy with editing and photography? all of my friends pretty much told me that they don't even look at their wedding video or photos that much but i still feel like having it is worth it but i understand they can be expensive.

guest count: i budgeted for 260 and thus far we have around expected 255 guests [maybe that will change as my wedding is in a couple weeks to full 260 ]

ceremony venue with chair rentals: $200

reception venue with dance floor [we had to pay for the addition of a dance floor rental]: $13700

    cake: $300

dj and photobooth [package deal for 5 and 4 hours respectively]: $600

extra alcohol: $400 [our venue is giving us wine but in my culture everyone expects cognac too]

photography and videography: $480 - so i have a friend that is a wedding photographer and videographer who we basically just paid her travel expenses to come, otherwise she would have cost $2k normally to a regular client

day of coordinator: $175 [just for a couple hours]

and then i say i'd spent another couple hundred on random things overall like a candy buffet table. my attire actually cost really little as i went with a prom dress. my centerpieces i managed to get down to $1 a piece.

original budget was $15k, i'm close to around $16k but i'd like to think for the size of my wedding that is pretty ok.
