Bubbles vs. Flower Petals

His #1 Lady, on December 17, 2014 at 1:48 PM Posted in Planning 0 22

Hi ladies. I need help deciding. I originally was going to do flower petals to be tossed at us for the ceremony recessional (we're already doing sparklers for the reception exit), but now I'm considering bubbles. My wedding is at 6 pm in April if that makes any difference. Can you ladies please chime in on this? BTW I should point out that my venue has no restrictions on anything.

Pedals would be beautiful but will need picked up where as bubbles you don't have to worry about that and they look neat too.

For bubbles you need to have trash cans available so that people don't leave the tubes. Also, sometimes they are hard to make depending on how cheap they are. Flower petals everyone can throw, you could even do dried lavender, and then that is bio degradable so you wouldn't necessarily have to clean it up.

The thing about bubbles is that essentially they are soap. They may make "water" spots on your (and guests') dresses. In addition, if there are any bare (aka not carpeted) spots on the floor bubbles could make the floor slippery. Then again if its raining, flower petals could also be slippery. But between flowers or bubbles I would go with flowers.

My ceremony is outside so I don't think a slippery floor would be an issue. Our flower girls will be tossing petals.

I prefer bubbles, myself. But I don't think you can go wrong with either. My only concern would be do you have to clean up the ceremony site afterwards? If you're expected to clean up I would definitely do the bubbles. If you don't have to clean up, it sounds to me like just a matter of preference.

I don't have to clean up anything. I got such a great deal from my venue! They handle everything for me. The only thing I have to clean up are my personal items (guest book, pictures, candy buffet jars, etc.) no trash or anything

We are doing ribbon wands, cool look with no mess. But between bubbles and flowers I would say flowers. Like Theresa said bubbles can leave spots on clothing, the stain can be very hard to remove from some fabrics.

Flower petals are gorgeous but we used bubbles. Bubbles last longer than one quick throw so if you have a lot of guests like we did, the bubbles can give you more pictures. We got a 100 pk at Michaels for $20 but we had a 20% coupon.

Thank you. The guests loved being involved after the ceremony and every single person stayed to do this before driving 30 minutes to the reception site.
