I just need some opinions/advice. My last post on here was about either buying a house or having a wedding. And as much as I'd like to do both, we don't have it in the budget. I just need some opinions/advice. My last post on here was about either buying a house or having a wedding. And as much as I'd like to do both, we don't have it in the budget. Then I thought, what about a Brunch/Lunch wedding reception? I've heard about people doing it and i'm sure it would save us a fortune. I've had my sister tell me the other day that i'll regret not having a wedding, and though I believe her, I think buying a house is a huge accomplishment and thought she'd be more happy for me (we're house hunting right now). But then I was thinking today (day dreaming at work), what about a daytime wedding? We'd have to move our date i'm sure because 10-5 is on a Friday, but I was wondering if anyone has done this? Their thoughts on it? I figure it would be better than no wedding at all. TIA!

I've had two lunch receptions at this point. They tend to feel very civilized. The food is less expensive, and people don't drink as much alcohol. They will tend to be shorter than dinner/dancing receptions, but so long as you allow for that, they can really work.

Our wedding is a little after lunch (2:00). I did it that way because the venue is cheaper and there's natural light for the photographer. Then, we're having sandwiches and fruit at the reception for people to snack on before dinner. It's a win, win, win situation for us.

We are doing a cocktail wedding reception. It allowed us to double the amount of people for less money. You can do anything you want to do. Weddings can be in the morning at sunrise to late in the evening sunset. Let us know if you need help with themes.

Reading about this just really made me want a mimosa AND a bloody mary. Oh, how I LOVE a good bloody mary!!

I think a brunch wedding is a fantastic idea!! If I could do it over again, I think that I would plan one, that would have fit our personality better anyway. Our wedding started at 5pm and was over and done by 10pm, so we didn't need the dancing ALL night and drinking all night. A daytime wedding can still be elegant and formal and fun, and I think you should totally look into some venues and deals you may be able to get with a new date and time!! Smiley smile

I'm having a lunchtime ceremony and reception as well! Ceremony is at 11 am, and the ceremony will be right afterwards at a historic hotel/restaurant in our downtown historic district in Flagstaff. We're hoping it will be low key, and casual (but still sophisticated!). Everybody has been very responsive thus far. Good luck!

When we were thinking of having the wedding in St. Augustine, FL we were thinking of a Sunday brunch wedding to save money. And then of course when the venue found out we weren't looking to get married for 2 years they decided to double their prices? Really???? Anyway, everyone will have just as much fun and you get to have a great wedding!! Good luck!

I find it funny because 10/5 was supposed to be our date too but life happens. And a brunch wedding is still a wedding. You won't regret it because you ARE having one, it just isn't the "norm."

Personally, I would also love it if I ended up doing a Sunday brunch wedding.

Why not have your wedding AT your new home? Rent a tent and some chairs for the backyard and have it catered?

If by chance you know anyone that needs a wedding place in los angeles, I know of a real cheap outdoor wedding venue in the forest, that is also a ranch with a ton of friendly animals. Over 500 fun animals from a camel, zebra, horses, farm animals, reptiles, birds and much more. and a playground for kids. lots to see and explore for pictures as well
