Brunch reception brides: how did you spend your evening?

Future.Mrs.G, on September 11, 2016 at 11:50 PM Posted in Planning 0 8

Hi ladies! FH and I picked out a venue for next October and our ceremony will take place at 11am, followed by a brunch reception on site. We have a cap of 50 people (swallowing my budding anxiety on that, but other posts on WW have helped me feel a lot better). We're both more laid back people without the desire for a long evening celebration. I'm curious to know what any of you have done for the evening after? I saw some comments about after parties.

I think it's totally up to you guys! If you want to keep the party going you could have some type of after-party after the reception, or just plan on hanging out with your FH for the rest of the day! You could get a headstart on your honeymoon, or schedule room service and massages!

We had a similar timeline, ceremony at 11:30 with all festivities ending at 4pm. We did an after party starting at 6-ish and it was a HIT...went until about 11:30 that night at a local hotel bar/lounge. Out of close to 200 guests at the wedding, we had 50-60 come to the after party. We chose the hotel we did in particular because (1) DH and I like it and go there frequently for drinks, (2) live music in the lounge every saturday so we knew there would be a good atmosphere and (3) they have a great bar menu with alot of yummy apps/finger foods and having it at the time we did, we were able to order all of them at happy hour prices, which was awesome. The hotel staff we worked with were awesome in helping us get it planned and there was no fee to reserve the tables and lounge areas that we wanted.

    Thanks @WWLynnie.

And @SummerS, I'm liking that suggestion as well! The happy hour/live band thing would be pretty cool for some of our friends. I'm definitely bringing that up to FH Smiley laugh

We had a 10:30 wedding. The brunch went on until about 5:00pm. Some people just went home but about 60% of our guest list (25-ish) went out to Citizen Burger Downtown for some burgers and drinks. It was actually a lot of fun. Then we had a party at our house the next night for all of DH's out of town friends before they left.

We're leaving at 4 and driving 5 hours to the beach to start our honeymoon.

Our ceremony was at 10:30 and people left between 2:30-3. We had one location and no dancing, just a formal brunch.

We had an after party at a hotel rooftop bar from 5:30-8:30 and then we went to bed to rest up for our honeymoon.

I loved how the day went and my hubby and I got a lot of alone time together and I wasn't exhausted. I was just happy Smiley smile

I can't wait to hear about what you decide!

@Mrs. Mac - that's a great idea, too. FH's entire family and his close friends are all out of state, so another time to hang out with them would be really nice. It'd be fun to start out honeymoon like @Millie suggested, but some people are flying in from CA and others driving 8+.

@#vine - yes! We're doing the same thing, but a more casual brunch and no dancing. I really like these ideas of an after party at the hotel as well. Hmmmmm!

    Thanks for the feedback, ladies!
