Hi, I was wondering for those of us with darker skin, did you pick white or ivory for your wedding gown?

But of course for photos it really depends on lighting as well and how the photographer uses their flash and editing!

Neither, personally dresses with a blush undertone looked best on me! I think in general warmer is more flattering.

Pure white dresses are rare nowadays, I think I tried on may two or three (out of dozens of dresses) and they tended to look....too stark.

Hello. I went with an ivory gown. I have never been a fan of white gowns. The gown I chose for my upcoming wedding is the Chia dress in the Rosa Clara collection.

I chose white! I tried on an ivory/cream colored dress and didn't LOVE it. I liked it, but the store didn't have the white for me to try on. Once it was available for pick up I was soooo happy that I ordered it in white.

I would choose a color that flatters your skin tone and the skin tone of your partner. Bridal ivory is a soft/light ivory color, looks "white" to most people, and is generally flattering on a variety of skin tones. True white appears much more stark by comparison. It can look great on darker skin but is usually unflattering for those with lighter skin. Because you'll likely want a ton of photos with your SO on your wedding day, I'd make sure whatever you choose is something that will work with your partner's skin tone and attire. If you aren't sure, I'd probably go ivory to be safe.

I chose a gold Claire Pettibone dress. I'm a costume & fashion designer and love non-traditional looks. White is gorgeous but honestly overrated in my opinion. Women traditionally wear colored wedding gowns across other cultures and in the past. Women of color look gorgeous in white but also when you take pics you need to make sure your photographer can take good pics of POC because of the stark contrast of white on darker skin. I'm sure you'll look gorgeous in whichever color you choose though!
