Brooch bouquet

Cindy, on October 24, 2019 at 2:00 PM Posted in Do It Yourself 1 23
Did anyone else make their own brooch bouquet? I had such a fun time I'm kind of sad it's finished (mostly). I still have some work to do with the ribbon underneath.

Beautiful! My mom is making one for me and my Maid of Honor! They are a surprise, so I haven't seen mine, but I think they are perfect for a winter wedding.

Thank you!! It was and it wasn't. I did a TON of research before starting and honestly, I ended up winging it. We found a cute antique shop that sold loads of brooches for cheap. My FH and I went a few weekends in a row to find ones that fit into the "theme" of the bouquet. I think he really enjoyed the hunt! Tons 👏of👏hot👏glue👏.

Yes!! We're a winter wedding, too! I'm excited that I can keep it forever and every time I see it in the guest bedroom I have a little "🎶 I'm getting married 💃" moment. Lol!
I hope you post yours after the big day!

Oh that's so fun!! Now I want to make myself one of these just because, haha. I wondered where you would find that many brooches and how much they would be. Great idea to check antique shops! What did you use for the base to glue all the brooches? I bet it was a lot cheaper than buying one already made or even real flowers.

I used a styrofoam half circle thing from Michael's. Everything I read said to take the pin part off and then glue them but I actually left that on and with the assistance of hot glue shoved the pin and clasp piece aggressively into the styrofoam. Also! I used a BUNCH of clip on earrings; they're great for small bald spots annnnd have that nice long backing clasp to shove into the styrofoam! One more thing- since it was kind of a "dig around for what you need" situation at the antique store, I used toothpaste to clean them all before-hand and it worked like a charm! I spent about $60 on the brooches but it's a pretty big bouquet.

That's so pretty! I don't know that I've ever actually seen anything like this before. This may be a dumb question, but is it heavy?

    Thank you!

No lie, it's real heavy. Like, if someone broke into the house, I'd grab it from the guest room and use it as a weapon.
We've got a short and sweet microwedding though so I'm not too worried.

It was an overwhelming project to start but once I started buying the brooches it kind of came together on its own. There definitely were times I stood (wine glass in hand) staring at it trying to figure out where and how to position the next piece. Overall, I had a really fun time making it and only got one, mildly severe burn ony finger, lol!

A family friend did this for her and all of her bridesmaids. She put the word out to everyone to collect broaches then had a crafting weekend where all the bridesmaids picked from the collection and made their bouquets Smiley smile I love how yours is all gold!!

Oh wow, go you Cindy! I would not be creative enough to assemble this Smiley laugh

Will anyone else in your wedding party carry bouquets? Will they be made from badges also?
