Bringing in alcohol for a no outside alcohol venue

Michelle, on March 27, 2019 at 7:58 PM

Posted in Wedding Reception 39

We have to use our venues alcohol packages but I want to do mini bottles of alcohol for escort cards. My wedding is on New Years Eve. Do you think that would be ok or am I violating policy??? I love the glitteror maybe a pic of usChanel bottle???champagne

The moonshine will be bought and paid for and then I will mix punch into that. When I say DIY I meant buying the empty bottles myself and filling them, placing a tag, glitter etc

The diy part may be problematic with most guest.... Unless you run something like a brewery or bottling plant. Some guest, like myself, are very wary of well intended people making stuff. This is because I have severe anaphylactic allergies and it's to a common spice.

Also, prepackaging is your friend especially legally with open container laws and legal liability...

So the problems you may want to consider with the diy alcohol bottle (w/ bought liquor) other than venue

    -open container laws
    -potential guest allergies
    -legal liability
    -breakable
    -contract issues
-trust of the product (from guest point of view)

Where did I suggest you were going to sneak it in?? I was just pointing out that if you just assume and are wrong, they are going to react and these could be some of the ways they do. Trying to help here!

You said even if they don't notice that I have it until the reception is underway and I replied by saying it's not like I'll be sneaking it in and as they are my escort cards they will see it

That's not me saying you were planning on sneaking them in. You could carry them in waving them over your head and they may not notice. Geez, stop looking for offense where there is none.

I never said you said that. You said even if they don't see them until the end and I was replying just trying to say I don't see why they wouldn't see them, I'm not hiding anything they will be front and center as they are my escort cards. You don't need to comment on this thread anymore. You're the one looking for offense and I don't play those games. Go have a glass of wine

Make sure to ask you wouldn't wan to buy something you can't use or buy it and take it and they try to cancel your wedding or change you some type of fee your not expecting.

This depends, our venue is no outside alcohol and that extends to the bridal suite and grooms suite, and also means we can't have alcohol favors - so this would be a no at our venue.

Our venue is the same way but we can bring in alcohol if we want to have for our bridal party before the ceremony or during our reception it's just got to be served by they're bartenders. We just can't be going out to our cars n drinking out there or hiding boozes in our purses..

Also look over your contract for your venue it should state everything in there if not contact the venue owners and ask them.

I would try to negotiate with them by saying that they are favors. I would think if you are still using their bar for everything else, it should be allowed. Ask to be safe but I would hold your ground if it's what you want.

I'm definitely going to ask when I go to my tasting in a few weeks. I think I'll have one with me just to show them what I'm talking about

I would ask the your venue first to make sure that your idea is ok. You do not want to purchase it and waste your money but that is a good idea.
