Bridesmaids/Maid of Honor/Jr. Maid of Honor

Marie, on November 1, 2017 at 12:57 PM Posted in Planning 0 9

1st of all, let me say how invaluable this site is for me. I get many great ideas, suggestions. Also, I am in my 60s and this is not our first marriage. We are both widows. However, this is my first wedding and I am excited beyond words! My FH had a ceremony with his first wife so he is taking all this calmly, I am ecstatic! Next, my circle of friends are small, so I will not have a entourage of bridesmaids etc. My daughter will be my maid of honor and my almost 17 YO old grdaughter wants to be my jr maid of honor (whatever that means - help me with that one please). FH wants this to be a memorable day for me and is making sure I get those things I want. We have set a budget, and I am a planner. So, I purchased a spiral notebook where I keep all my information - what I buy/cost, names, contacts, websites, etc. My question to the forum, will my daughter and grdaughter be enough, or should I have more? I want my wedding to be beautiful. more below...

I have my dress, picked it up from David's yesterday and it is as beautiful as I remembered!! My shoes came today and are breathtaking! Even though I have ordered and returned more than 6 pairs, these are perfect. I need 2" heels and these look beautiful! So, back to what I need help with. Will my wedding look great with only the maid of honor and jr maid. My plan is for my son and eldest grandson to walk me down half way and my oldest son to walk me the rest of the way so all three of my boys will give me away (plus the grandson) So, what are your thoughts?

These are my shoes! I think I can now move on to what to do about my hair and the bridesmaid issue

You can absolutely have two bridesmaids. Your granddaughter can just be a bridesmaid or a co-maid of honor. The "junior" title is really meant for younger girls who want to stand in the ceremony but needn't be included in all the other festivities. Sounds like your walk down the aisle will be very meaningful with all the men in your life who love you! I think you've got that very well thought out.

You can have as many or as few in your bridal party as you like. Your grandaughter's title can be BM, Junior MOH- whatever you like.

Congratulations! I hope the day is everything you've ever dreamed of. Love the shoes, too! I have never thought the number of attendants makes or breaks a beautiful wedding. In fact, I think some brides go overboard and have far too many attendants. If you have two, you'll be fine. Another option would be to have your two sons also serve as attendants for you - bridesmen.

My sister had. MOH and a CO-MOH. Some brides have 2 MOH's, so she will be the 2nd. Sometimes (Like my SIL is doing) there is a Maid of Honor and also a Matron of Honor(if married). Both brides wanted to have 2 and decided to do this and bridesmaids and even jr. bridesmaids. I had a cousin in the last 90s who did jr. everything, including a jr. bride and a jr. groom! (Ages were 3-4yrs)

First of all .... those. Shoes. Are. Amaaaazzing!

Second, I am having jr bridesmaids but haven't heard of a jr maid of honor. Either way, it would look great having those two stand beside you! And it sounds very nice to have all your boys walk you down the aisle! That's a great idea. It sounds awesome!
