Bridesmaids wants to do their own makeup

If you are really wanting them to have their makeup professionally done then that falls on you to pay for it.

In these cases, you can not force anyone to get it done professionally. The only solution is if you offered to cover their expenses. However, then you may create an uncomfortable situation if you have other bridesmaids and they are paying on their own. If you can not afford to pay for everyone, then you have to respect their decisions.

If you require them to get makeup done, then you need to pay for it.

I agree with previous posters. If you want them to get their makeup done professionally, then you need to pay for it or let them choose to do their own. And you would need to pay for all, not just the ones trying to save money.

I offered to pay the difference ($45) and now she is saying that she wants to do her own hair. My wedding is a little more than a month away, she needs to make up her mind. I just want the piece of mind and not stress over this

Unless you want to pay for everyone’s hair and makeup I would just let them do their own. It’s not ideal, but it’s hard to force someone to spend money.

Maybe you could have a discussion with them about it? If they can’t afford the professional services they may not want to burden you with that info. Or maybe they feel they can do a good enough job that they can save money.

If you have it in your budget, just pay for the hair and makeup services. Are the bridesmaids into makeup and are good at doing more formal faces? One of my bridesmaids did her own makeup, but she’s really good at it so I trusted her. I showed my bridesmaids pictures of looks that I was into so that they could either use those pictures or find similar pictures to show the hair and makeup artists we used. Everyone had a slightly different, but similar look. You couldn’t tell that the one bridesmaid did her own makeup because she went by how everyone else was getting theirs done, and she has mad skills lol.

I really don’t think you can expect anyone to pay for their hair & makeup if they don’t want to.
First, there is a money issue & everyone should be free to make decisions they are financially comfortable with.
Second, there is an issue of imposing on someone to look particular way that you envisioned, which I personally find unecesaary & questionable. Why do all BMs have to have same hair / makeup? Why do women in general have to look flawless in photos, if they maybe prefer to look like their more natural self? I personally would just let them do what they want & are comfortable with.

Unless you are paying it is there choice. I sure they will look amazing.

If you require it you need to pay for it. Professional make up is expensive and they may not have the money to waste. I know I wouldnt.

If you have expectations and requirements for your bridesmaids hair, makeup, or both, then you should be paying for it.
If you can't afford to fully cover the bill, then your bridesmaids should have the option to do as they please.

Do you not trust them to look presentable on their own? If you are requiring it to be professional then you should pay for it, and for all the Girls not just those 2.

If you require it, you pay for it. That is standard etiquette. If they are doing things to be budget conscious, you have to respect that. Paying a "part" of it won't do the trick. If you don't "Trust" them to look their best by doing their own, you have to foot the bill to have it your way.

Everyone else already said it: if you want it done professionally, you should cover the cost. Otherwise, it's your girls' choice to pay for it or not.

Two of my bridesmaids are doing their own makeup, I think it's totally fine. I even offered to pay for everyone's hair and makeup & those two said they would rather do their own.
