Bridesmaids shoe HELP!!!!

Jennifer, on March 2, 2016 at 10:41 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 20

So I am having a hard time figuring out what kind of shoes I want the BMs to wear. The wedding will be in the evening, starting around 4:30, it'll be outdoors, it is at the coast but not on sand, it is on grass but there is water surrounding 2 sides of the property. my BMs range from like 5'11 all the way to 5'2 and I am 5' myself. Some are able to walk in heels, some are not and, again, it's on the grass, not solid ground. All their dresses are the same, my sisters, the MOH is the only on that different, same style but different color, she is a shade of blue darker. I attached a pic of the dress that the BM will be wearing and I hope that it shows up in this forum! I don't know if they should all match, or if it doesnt matter, or what. Any help would be super appreciated!

What I did for my girls is told them I wanted the shoes to be black but they could be whatever style they wanted. That way I knew they where all comfortable with what they where wearing. Especially since your girls dresses look like there long I don't think it matters if they match since they won't be seen.

Just tell them to wear any shoe in a specific color. For my, my girls were in long dresses, so I told them any black shoe is fine :-)

Let them choose their own shoes and stop worrying about it. Smiley smile

I told them nude or silver and didn't care after that.

I had this dress as a BM in a friend's wedding. We wore matching gold sandals with little to no heel.

That is very similar to a dress i wore as a BM in color and style. for that wedding i wore silver sandals. I believe the bride told us we could wear any shoe as long as it wasnt the shade of orange her shoes were( her colors were malibu blue and tangerine).

Tell them what color shoe and let them decide what style. It's a new world out there, the days of matchy-matchy are dead!! Plus it takes a lot of stress off of you!

We're all going to be wearing converse. Our colors are mint and grey so the bridesmaids will be wearing mint dresses with grey shoes, and my MOH the opposite.

I really like the silver option as far as color goes. Would that match better than white? I am awful when it comes to getting all dressed up!

I told my girls silver heels and let them choose their own. Silver would look really nice with the color of your girls' dresses.

I'm letting them wear whatever shoes they want, because nobody will care or notice.

I'd let them choose their own within a set of guidelines...shoes are so personal and their comfort really depends on the person! When SIL got married she asked us all to wear a pair of Nina shoes in their ivory color. They all matched but we were able to choose our own...I thought that was a good compromise!

I just told them a color and let them go from there. Some of my girls are more comfortable in flats, some wanted to wear heels, so I left that choice up to them. If they'll be standing on soft ground, you might recommend something without a heel though since those might sink.

I think silver would be better than white matching wise, it's a nice neutral, if anything maybe a little harder to find.

I just told my ladies silver or gray shoes. We are on grass too so I made sure that they knew that heels were probably out for their comfort, but I'll be purchasing some of those heel protectors for grass anyways just to be safe.

I like the idea of just telling them a color and having them pick out their own shoes. You're the bride meaning people are really only going to be staring at you so who cares?! I only have two bridesmaids (their dresses are coral) so I told them a nude or silver shoe in whatever style they wanted worked for me. They went shopping together and picked out these super cute nude mid size heel shoes that they can definitely re-wear after my wedding so I thought that was perfect.

I told them a color (gold) and the rest is up to them! They're the ones wearing them! Also, if your doing floor length BM dresses then it won't be all that noticeable if they don't match perfectly! I tried to pick a color they could wear again if they want.

I'm telling them a color and recommending wedges since we'll be on the grass - but letting them do heels if they'd prefer or if they already have something that could work. I've flagged a couple on Amazon that I think would look pretty with the dress in case some girls want some inspiration or guidelines, but I'm not restricting them to those.

I plan to tell my BMs what color shoe I'd like for them to wear, and they can pick the style shoe they want from wherever they'd like to get it. This is also how it worked in the two weddings where I have been a BM. This works very well because your BMs can then pick a style that is most comfortable for them at a price that works for them. This is a good way to ensure your friends aren't wearing shoes that don't fit them properly just because you wanted a specific shoe (not all brands work for everyone). For one wedding I was in, I already had a pair of shoes that met the bride's criteria!

You should definitely make sure your BMs know before their shoe hunt that they will be spending a lot of time in the grass and they might be most comfortable in wedges, flats, or a dressy sandal.

People are more likely to wear silver again than white. White also gets dirty fast. I say go silver... They might actually have a pair of silver shoes already, definitely more options in silver.
