Bridesmaids Robes

Megan, on August 11, 2017 at 1:08 AM Posted in Planning 0 50

Hi guys!

I'm getting married next year, but I'm trying to get all my bridesmaids gifts together. I want to get them some cute robes to wear while we get ready. I was wondering if y'all know of any good sites to order affordable robes. I know Etsy has some but I was hoping for some better deals. Please share if you know of any and feel free to share what kind of gifts you got for your bridesmaids!

I bought mine on "the knot" shop when they were having a 50% off sale. I paid less than $20 a robe, and they have extended sizing if needed.

I purchased kimono style robes off of eBay from China. They were approximately $6 a robe. Quite a steal and the quality was decent too. Though I only recommend this avenue if you have time to spare because shipping from China takes at least a month.

Keep in mind that anything you expect them to wear or use on your wedding day is not a gift. It is a prop for your pictures. Also make sure that you buy something that all your BM's will be comfortable wearing for pics. Some of those robes are quite skimpy.

Robes for getting ready aren't gifts, they're props.

What muriel said, those arent gifts.

Unless... your friends are robe fanatics and they are high quality, not $15 scratchy cheap robes.

So I actually bought robes off etsy, for getting ready, not part of their gifts.

I got 5 robes, with their role embroidered on the back, and their first initial embroidered on the front and it only cost $125 before shipping. So $25 a piece with all the embroidery but cheaper without. The shop was thatswhatshethreadd

I disagree on the fact that they are 'props' ? I would definitely gift them. I would never expect them to buy their own robes because it's not like they are necessary. I just thought they'd be fun to give to my girls in a bridesmaid gift box.

Right but it's not a gift for them to enjoy, it's a matching picture prop for your wedding pictures. Unless you would get them all matching robes for their birthdays, it doesn't count as a bridesmaid gift.

It is a gift for them to enjoy.. they could wear it whenever they want and it's theirs to keep. I've never heard of such a rule as to what 'counts as a bridesmaid gift'.

Just because you've never heard it doesn't make it untrue.

Like i said, if they love robes and its a quality one then ok, great gift. If its a $10 robe off of amazon made in china, then no, its a prop. No one would want that.

I will gift them whatever I want to. I was just asking for opinions on where to get them. If you have no suggestions, then I do not need your input.

I disagree. I think they can be gifts. As someone who's been a bridesmaids, a gift was anything that was given to me. I never saw any of it as necessary or expected. But as a bride, I wouldn't embroider them, because then it's not awkward to wear them afterwards because it says "bridesmaid" on the back. BUT. If you wanted to embroider initials or monograms, those would be good ideas. Personally, I'm not getting any of mine embroidered

To rethink giving your bridesmaids props. No one will wear it again and it's a waste of money.

You also can't tell people how to post. Welcome to the internet!

I have been "gifted" robes from the last three weddings I was in. They were cheap and either from Etsy and china and given to me for the purpose of pictures and "to use regularly". Nothing about getting ready robes is a gift. It was a shitty prop that I haven't touched since. A gift should be something special not a prop disguised as a gift.

Until this forum, I have never heard of a "that is not a gift it is a prop". You know your friends, OP. If you know they will like these robes, I say go for it! But on these forums when you ask a question you will get many different opinions. It does not make any one person right or wrong. It is what they think or how they view things. I would not think it is a prop but others may. Everyone just wants to give you their opinions and then you make your own decision. To me, that is the point of a discussion forum. Good Luck Smiley smile
