Bridesmaids Dresses

Happy Monday my beauties! What are your thoughts on purchasing or getting them custom made to your liking? Also what are your thoughts on either one uniform style vs various styles of dresses in the same color? What are some of your thoughts or ideas of what any of you may have decided or contemplating.

I personally like the idea of having different dresses because everyone has different body types so i don't necessarily think one dress looks good on everyone. i asked my bridesmaids to just get a dress in what style they wanted and have it be within the blush pink spectrum. so they all had different colors but in photos it actually blended in well and did not contrast or anything.

Custom dresses are fine as long as they're within your bridesmaids budgets, unless you're paying for them yourself. I'm a fan of different styles in the same color or color family. There's very rarely one dress that looks good on various body types.

I agree with PP, custom dresses are great if they’re in your BM budget or you pay for them yourself. I would guess that custom anything could cost a lot.
I definitely like different styles, that’s what I’m doing with my bridesmaids because they all have different body types so I want them to be comfortable with what they wear.
I also like different colors in the same shade, and I’ve seen bridal party with different prints or different dress material (like some with sequins and some without) which I thought was cool!

Niceeee. I agree with not everyone having the same shape and what works for one may not for the other as well as material also. So you did not accompany them, you were actually ok with them getting their own dresses without you present. So you trusted their option. That is great that it blended well especially since we know there are so many versions of what stores label as blush.

I love the idea of having different dresses I feel its very creative and much more of an option then one set dress for everyone. Plus everyone is shape differenlty. I would honeslty pick out a few and allow each lady that in your wedding to pick the dress that they feel they would be comfortable in. Different colors is very creative longs as the color scheme are going well which i know you know that. Like for an example :

    Purple

    la

    plum

three different colors but all go together just an idea! LOL..

Me personally i dont mind different dresses however same colors.

I agree having the ladies wearing the exact dress may not fit each persons shape, whether it’s the style or the material. So did you have a preference as to the material such as chiffon, polyester, satin or it did not matter. Budget is also important but being open minded as well giving them the option to do custom vs store purchase as some may be open to either or so not ruling it out is always good as well.

We asked everyone to choose chiffon dresses because colors appear differently depending on the fabric.

Yeah they asked me what i thought about some dresses and stuff but generally i just trusted their judgement. don't get me wrong though, i had times of nerves! because i was afraid of how it would look altogether. i wanted them to be different and unique but i also was afraid that it might look funky or that one stands out too much or that it clashes, etc. but in the end it came out fine.

I agree as well with making sure the budget fits while also not closing the door and giving them all options and allow them to decide whether or not they can afford. We may think they don’t want one thing so we make that decision for them but then they say hey I am fine with either way. So just giving them the option is a plus especially since they are the ones wearing it. Yes custom in itself definitely has a price no matter what from you purchasing your own material and then the seamstress. A few of my ladies have different shapes, the rest are close in size & shape but even though they may be similar I still feel one would look better in one style vs another. Yes I love the different material patterns in the dresses as well. That is what I have been contemplating as well. Sequins may look nicer on one than the other as well as shimmery or floral so it is def a lot to think and really pin point.

I agree with having the various styles of dresses as well. Sometimes we as women like a dress but often just because we can wear it does not always mean it will compliment us as well as it would someone else. I experience that in regular shopping I know it’s nice but because my bottom is bigger I know it would not fit me as well lol. So I’ve said no to a lot of attire. I understand. Do you prefer to pick the dresses yourself for your ladies vs them pick out what they like based on the color you decide on? What about the material as we know satin does not often look well on wide hips and so on.

I would pick out 5 and let each bride pick from the 5 for an example. Not for them to go picking themselves. Yes whatever colors you decied on ...Material I would pick as well. Because I am a particular person and I would be so upset for someone to pick the color I want for an example but a dress I dont like. Its your wedding your vision.

Yes this is very true. Depending on the material the colors can either be brighter or dull not giving you the actual look you were going for. Or for example the color burgundy there are various shades with one being more reddish vs purple. So would one go with the ketchup reddish burgundy or purple undertone burgundy. Which I had a hard time finding the store that carries the correct burgundy that I prefer for my guys. Everyone sells the reddish color which I don’t really like the color. It was to the point I contemplated changing the guys color and the groomsmen from what I was told should not be this hard leave that to the ladies lol.

There is nothing wrong with being particular. I totally agree this being your wedding, your vision and hopefully all that agreed to be in your wedding is open and as long as they are somewhat comfortable!

Lol I get it because even though you are including them this was still your day and you did not want anyone to overshadow the others or clash either. That is great that even though you gave them that option that still wanted your opinion. Even though you allowed them to be free with picking their styles that was still your vision that came together as you imagined. So that is good, I am glad it came out great. I am still indecisive, there are so many options and things or more so ways you can go with their dresses and want to be certain that is what you will want to see for the rest of your life in your pictures lol this is forever no do overs lol.

Another dress option you can do is there are ones where people can tie them in various ways to create different styles. they are called infinity dresses.

Hi! My girls are getting theirs from Azazie. I have 7 BM's so I picked 3 colors and had them each "claim" the color they wanted such that the breakdown was 3/2/2 (3 in color A, 2 in color B, 2 in color C). From there, they could pick whatever dress they wanted as long as it was floor length, not satin, and not the same dress someone else had already picked. So far 5 have bought their dresses and a 6th at least has the style she likes. It's been fun to see what style each one of them has picked and how they look together. Would I have picked those same 6 dresses, probably not, but I wanted them to get what they wanted.

I went with Azazie because they have a huge selection of colors (70+) and a huge selection of styles (like 200 maybe?) and the dresses are all $79-$129. I wanted people to be happy and not have anything to complain about, lol. I do wish Azazie dresses weren't made in China, but there aren't a ton of US options so it is what it is.

I gave pretty clear guidelines (David’s Bridal, long dress, chiffon fabric, color wine). I went on the website and narrowed down a search, so only dresses that met that criteria we shown. Then I sent them the link so it showed all those options. They had over 40 to choose from, allowing them to choose a dress that they would feel comfortable in and would be within their price point.

Heyyyyy!! That is very nice 7 BM and having them basically pick their dresses based off of the 3 particular colors you told them they could choose from and majority of them already have their dresses. Very nice. So they were successful with not picking the same dress. Good thing they pretty much did not have the same exact taste. I think I have seen Azazie before when searching for dresses but I will def take another look to see what they may have that catches my eye. Even though you mentioned they are out of China smh I hope the borders opens up to at least allow transport of goods soon so we can get to ordering.

Yes you definitely provided them with the specific details, narrowed it down. I actually did not think to give them the exact website with the link to the particular dresses that I would want them to possibly view or wear. So thank you for that suggestion as well.
