Bridesmaids Dresses

I’m in my mid 40s, my Matron of Honor is in her mid 50s and my bridesmaid is also in her mid 40s. Fashion for my girls has become quite the challenge. Because of our ages most of the “standard” bridesmaids dresses are way too inappropriate (very low back/no back high slits or both), even if we were younger I’d find it inappropriate (this coming from the girl that wanted the November Rain dress when she was 18... irony ). Also I don’t like them at all, they all look the same and I’m not crazy about chiffon for the look of my wedding. I looked at evening wear a lot of it is either too mother of the bride/golden girls or too expensive.

I did find this dress from Lula Kate that I really love, when I ordered swatches from them they informed me that they’re closing down production until after the pandemic I know my wedding is a year and 2 months away so technically “I have time”, I live in NJ and the governor is itching to shut everything down again. I’m somewhat of a control freak so purchasing fashion online is not an option, they have to try dresses on and I have to approve. I was hoping someone might know of a designer that has a dress in a similar style in a light blue or platinum.cfb_1416013.jpg

Jenny Yoo can be ordered online. Here are some dresses from a quick search. There are plenty more options. Aside from tulle/chiffon (which you states you don't want) they have 3 or 4 other fabrics. You can sort by fabric. I used Jenny Yoo for my bridesmaids dresses. They also have other blue choices. I just picked the same one for ease of comparison. By the way, slits (especially in the back) can be sewn up in alterations if the dress isn't too tight otherwise.

Dress 4 front and back (This one is a flowy fabric but it seemed conservative without being matronly or too young ":

She also has a flagship store in nyc and a couple of other cities. Some of her things are sold at bhldn (anthropologie's wedding line) and Bella Bridesmaids. These are all brick and mortar

Here are a few from Morilee by Madeline Gardner. A lot of wedding dress designers also make bridesmaids dresses! Bridesmaids Dresses 9

I think this dress is gorgeous and will compliment most figures. Also if you’re Bridesmaids are aware and okay with spending that amount, then it’s okay! I would personally be okay with spending $200-300 on a dress for a special occasion.

Besides the high slits not fitting the style of our wedding, one of my girls can’t wear high heels for medical reasons. Dresses with high slits look better with heels.
