Bridesmaids Dress Help

Victoria, on May 24, 2021 at 2:39 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 9

I have been starting to window shop for bridesmaids dress just to get an idea of what styles I like and where to get them. I have been looking and looking and I cant find something I like. I think the problem is that I am not a dress person. My fiancé doesn't really care what they look like as long as they wear dresses. Should I just leave it up to my maid of honor and bridesmaid to pick out? Or does anyone have any alternative suggestions?

PS: They have to wear the dress twice; the beach in Florida in October, and in northern Maryland in November.

Check out Azazie online. If you don't care much, you can just pick a color and request a length (long or short), and even a fabric and leave it at that.

I second this - I'm having my bridesmaids pick any dress from Azazie they like (as long as it's long) in a specific color (I assigned each a shade of blue). I'd rather they be comfortable in a dress they like than one I like since I'm not going to be the one wearing it!

As long as they will be not too warm in FL, and not too cold in MD, then pick a color and have them deicide what they like - just have a cohesive fabric and lenght - they can pick a style flattering to them. I'm only having a MOH and I let her pick out they style she liked.

Let them pick, within some parameters.

As for what parameters those are, you have a LOT of leeway here.

    1. Dress style. They can either pick the same dress, or different dresses. If you opt for different dresses, you can specify a length if you desire, and a fabric (I do recommend specifying fabric, because if one person is in satin and another is in chiffon, they will photograph very differently.)
    2. Dress color. Everyone can be in the same color, or they can be in different colors - I've seen everything from having the two main colors of a wedding (like coral and turquoise, each maid being in one of those two) to just having a shade range ("pick something in the aqua to turquoise range.") This is entirely up to you and the look you want for your wedding.

With that guidance, let them look and pick a style themselves. Others have suggested great websites to direct them to.

I agree with others. I would give pick a store/website and tell them color, length, and fabric type (not all dresses look the same color even if they are if the fabric is different) then let them decide on the style they are the most comfortable wearing. This will take the pressure off you to pick a dress and will enable them to pick a dress they are comfortable wearing within their price range.

I'm also using Azazie, I'm gonna tell them the color and length and let them pick what works for them. I don't care about all the dresses being identical because dresses fit everyone differently and for me, I'd rather they have something they love and they feel comfortable in.

Sounds like it would be great if you just picked a color and let them get whatever they want in that shade.

I think giving a few vague guidelines will suffice for most women. If you have a MOH that’s super into dresses maybe she can coordinate for you.
But talk to your fiancé about it more. My SO had ‘no opinion’ until I showed my ideas... then it was ‘no lace’, ‘no strapless’, and ‘not too short’... so just check in again on that.

As a Maryland bride the weather here in November is pretty cold that time of year where the beach may be a little bit more tolerable. I would let them choose but be prepared for them to wear something on their arms to accommodate the cold weather here.
