Bridesmaids Attire!!!

Gracey, on July 7, 2021 at 11:18 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 22

I have my wedding dress and I know how I want the guys to look (attached). But what would be better for the bridesmaids? Short or long?

Also, my theme is Lord of the Rings and my colors are earth tones so olive green, biscotti, and cinnamon Smiley smile

My vote is for long dresses like the first one!

Your dress is formal, but the groomsmen are more casual, so either the short or long dresses would be fine. I think the short dresses have a higher possibility of being able to be worn again, so that gives them a slight edge (but only slight because we all know how rare it is for a bridesmaid dress to actually be reusable). Are the short ones less expensive? What do your bridesmaids think?

Since you said Lord of the Rings, I would go with long dresses

I love the long dresses! Especially since the theme is LOTR. The long dress puts off the vibe more than the short ones, and I think they'll mesh better with a September wedding.

Personally i go for short dresses but that's because i know the likelihood of me wearing long afterwards is next to none. but i will say i do really like the long dresses

Ask your bridesmaids what they would prefer

If you want to stick to theme, go with the long dresses. However the short dresses have a chance of being reworn

I prefer the long dresses. However given that the groomsmen are less formal (no jackets) I would go with short. You also let each bridesmaids pick and have a mix of short and long

If your BMs vary in height, long dresses will look more "uniform." Daughter is nearly 6' tall. She was in a wedding where the B chose short dresses from DB. The other two BMs were ~5'2" -- on them, the dress hit them at mid-knee. For daughter? That dress was SO DARN SHORT!!! Like, a mini-skirt.... She ended up wearing bike shorts under her dress because she was terrified she was going to flash someone in the middle of the ceremony.... That solidified her choice of long dresses for her own BMs. Smiley winking

Why not both? It's a great way to give your bridesmaids a choice. They'll still look great.
My bridesmaids wore infinity dresses for my rainbow wedding.
I chose the color and the length, but they were able to decide what style looked best on them.
It's a good way to make them all stand out.

    Hi there!

Im personally a sucker for long bridesmaid dresses! Do you plan on purchasing that bridesmaid dress for your bridesmaids? If so have they tried it on? I HIGHLY recommend they do! I let my bridesmaids choose there own bridesmaid dress from Davids Bridal. In fact I actually had three try on that EXACT dress as you pictured! They fell in love with it online and was certain it would be the one... HOWEVER two of them hated how it looked on... i thought it looked ok but not the best for their figure.

    Goodluck to you!

I would say it depends on when the wedding is… Winter wedding I would say go long, but spring or summer short

Also agree that of you're going LOTR, go long. (Think of all the Elven dresses, which are long and flowy. Shorter dresses feel more like a fairy, like Tinkerbell!)

Loving the color combo you’re going with! What about a midi length or floor length with a slit?
