Bridesmaid/groomsmen proposals ideas?

Shaina, on October 9, 2019 at 11:37 AM Posted in Planning 0 21

FH and I are almost at 365 days and we plan on asking our bridal party in November. I am stuck on how to ask and what to give. I don't want to go to crazy spending since we both have a budget of $100 each(6 bridesmaids and 5 groomsmen).

What ideas do you have or have you done?

Pictures if you have any would be super helpful ! Smiley smile

I texted each girl individually first, just to make sure they could afford it & had the time. Then I sent them formal proposals, it was a wood jewelry box with liquor shooters, nail polish & hair ties that said "to have and to hold" then a little paper asking and the wedding and dress information. My husband sent boxes with fireball bottles, personalized coke bottles that said "have a coke with your groomsman!" and a card that said "my soon to be wife saw this on Pinterest and thought it would be 'super cute'! Will you be my groomsman? There's an open bar."

For my bridal party, I gave them these bags with their favorite wine inside along with a handwritten note with what our relationship meant to me on the back of these cards (all from Amazon).

For the groomsmen, FH just asked his dad to be his BM and asked my BIL (sisters husband) to be a groomsman with a Yeti lowballer and a loaf of banana bread! (I make it for him, he loves it)

I got all the boxes from amazon. I got the crinkle paper to go into it just for cute color decoration. I got my MOH a shot glass, one bridesmaid a wine glass, and the other a tumbler cup. I gave the bridesmaid with the wine glass a little Disney pin because were both Disney fans. I got the other bridesmaid a little sign to go with her tumbler (it’s a sisters sign because she is my sister in law), and then for my MOH I’m just probably going to give her some kind of bottle of something to go with the shot glass.

We gave personalized gifts to each bridal party member that we “proposed” to rather than giving them all the same thing. I found most of the items on Etsy.

You dont need to get them anything in order to ask them - i personally think that's overboard and silly. Just call or text them like you would normally and ask if they would like to be a bridesmaid.

Personally, I'd prefer that than a box with trinkets and "bridesmaid" gear.

I just texted or asked in person. It's become this whole big thing to propose now which is fine but it sucks when it puts pressure on the bride to spend more money and is becoming expected in society now. I think something small like a mug, cute gift, or anything will do.

Thanks for the ideas !! I really appreciate your input. I know proposals can get pretty crazy but I just want to go simple route. I love your ideas!

Thanks, they did really appreciate their gifts, and we didn’t spend an arm and a leg for them, which was nice.

    Hi,

I made each of my bridesmaid a proposal box with candy, dollar store face mask, dollar store planner, dollar store confetti, and added a little mini wine In each of them as well as a card. You can add anything you want really and it does not have to break the bank. I got the white boxes from Walmart. They're actually pie boxes $2.00 each couldn't beat that!

Our girls got a Love lotion from Bath & Body Works along with a mug that suited their personality. Then I gave them a note saying how much I would love them to be a part of the celebration. The guys got their tie (we found them for only $10 each when originally they were $50!!) and a beer mug suited to their personality. My husband I think wrote them each a short note too, not sure though.

Found a set of scratch off cards from Amazon for $6 for a set of 5. I will send actual lottery scratch offs in the card and say something about hitting the jackpot with their friendship lol These are the cards https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B076PR38LN/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Why give them anything now? I assume you will be giving them gifts before the wedding to thank them for being in the bridal party. Personally, I think this whole "proposing" to the bridesmaids and groomsmen thing is another way to squeeze money out of the bride and groom. Just ask them!

I only have 2 bridesmaids, but I got most of the items from Dollar Tree, Five Below, or on clearance. My main wedding color is plum and lighter shades of purple. The presentation of my proposal boxes made it look more expensive.

I did a card that said" I found my mister but I need my sisters? Will you be my Bridesmaids" in a box with a ring pop ( the candy) a bridesmaid shot glass and a mini of their favorite drink.

was very cute and inexpensive. Oh and we had a BBQ and asked them (groomsmen got same thing).
