My FH and I thought it would be a nice gesture to give the single members of our wedding party a plus one so that they can bring a date. This has led to nothing but nightmares. My RSVP by date is this Sat and thus far everyone with a plus one that has failed to find a date has decided to go alone except one bridesmaid.

This particular bridesmaid has been trying unsuccessfully to find a date online and is refusing to admit defeat. I just informed her that I need to know if she has found a date and their name by Saturday and she is now telling me that she is dropping out of the wedding. I don't think that I am being out of line here. She's had a long enough amount of time to find a date. The invites were sent on 2/24 and she has known long before then.

I really don't know what to do in this situation. I can't just allow her to bring a compete stranger that she's never met to my wedding. Any advice? I would highly suggest not giving single people plus ones to avoid this situation.

Are you kidding me? You are so much better off without her! WOW.

She is done saying that she is out of the wedding, but is still mad that I'm asking her to tell me who she is bringing if she insists on bringing some one.

Tell her to quit being an ass and remind her that it's YOUR day!! Hopefully she will "get it" and show up to stand by your side. Best of luck!!

Thanks everyone for your advice and input. She has since admitted to having a moment of insanity and apologized. All is well.

Awesome. Because I would have been tempted to say something like, "Well, clearly, you having a date is the most important thing. So if you can't find one, I'll just cancel the whole wedding. No pressure!"
