Bridesmaid size issue --- help!

FutureMrsS, on January 7, 2016 at 6:52 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 18

Long story short, I've found a number of bridesmaid dresses I love for my girls --- with just one problem: one of my bridesmaids is significantly larger than the rest --- to the point where it's hard to even find plus sizes that go up as high as she needs. Every time I find dresses for my bridesmaids, I find out that they don't come in her size. I've found a few that come in her size that I like, but we're all on a relatively tight budget, and the ones that come in her size are also typically really expensive for both her and the rest of the girls. She says she wears a 24. Most of what I've found goes up to a 22 Smiley sad -- and I'm not about to ask her to lose weight.

What do you ladies think? Thanks in advance!

Are you set on everyone having the exact same dress?

Instead of making your bridesmaids all wear the same dress, why don't you have them stick with a particular color. That way they can pick a dress that they feel good in and is also within their price range.

Maybe look into several dress styles that go well with each other. That way each girl has a dress they love, even if they are all different.

David's has 24s. Also look at eshakti.com- they have a wedding line (I love their regular stuff - I wore one of their dresses today). Sizes are like 2-30.

I am using Azazie and having a few styles they can choose from in an online showroom.

Their sizes go up to 30- and they can choose something their style from selections you have already cleared. http://www.azazie.com/

I had my girls choose long, black dresses. One MOH was 2 months postpartum and one is a gym rat size 2. No way were they going to both look and feel great in the same style dress. It looked amazing. I couldn't have picked a better combo of dresses. My suggestion if you are open to it is to let them choose their own, with parameters or have half the girls in one dress and half in the other. I believe DB goes up pretty far into the plus sizes as well.

I would say let them all have different dresses. Even if you find one that comes in all the sizes it might not be right for all the different body types.

I had my bridesmaids in mis-matched dresses. It looked much better than I thought!!! Perhaps let everyone wear a style to suit their body type but in the same color. I actually now think mis-matched bridesmaids look better than everything being so matchy matchy, but of course, thats entirely up to you. It seemed more elegant or something.

I'd really like them all to have the same color dress -- but styles can be different. We're also doing long dresses, so they're gonna be a little higher, anyway --- but I really want to keep everyone under $100 if possible. I'll look into some of the sites you all suggested, though. Azazie you can search just by color and $100. =]

    They also do custom measurement.

I narrowed my gowns by fabric (all chiffon), length (knee), and color (tahiti).

Have you ever thought of convertible dresses? One of my BM's is plus size and I had the same issue. I ordered the dresses from

www.henkaa.com and they fit and look great on her. I got them long as well. The colors are the same but they have the option to wear the dress however they like Smiley smile Good luck hun!

I'm in the same boat but not that large. I'd pick a color and a designer and let the girls choose the style. Maybe that would help??

We used Azazie and loved them. I had 2 girls that were 0's, a size 4, a size 6, a size 10, and a size 24. (We actually did custom sizing - which was perfect! The dresses all fit great!) They all wore the same dress and it looked amazing on all of them! This is similar to the one my girls wore (our is currently unavailable)

David's Bridal dresses go up to larger sizes. There dresses are kinda expensive but if you are open to color their clearance colors or older colors they are retiring are usually given a significant discount to around 50 - 70. Hope this helps!

As PP said, go check out DB. They have sizes up to like 30!. I found a beautiful convertible dress there that looked great on everyone, from size 4 to 20.

I would do the same colors, but different dresses. My two girls are two different sizes. I let them get something in the same color that they were comfortable in.
