Bridesmaid Robes/Oversized long sleeve button downs

Marissa, on January 4, 2017 at 11:02 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 12

Hello ladies,

I'm having trouble finding my bridesmaids robes or long sleeve button down shirts to get ready in. Of course I'm looking for them to be a reasonable price. If you all have any recommendations on places or Etsy shops I'd appreciate it. Also, which of the two would you prefer to get ready in?

Try eBay or Amazon....I personally would rather get ready in a robe

A girlfriend of mine got button downs from old navy and monogrammed them for us. I love mine and actually wear it quite often. More useful then a robe in my opinion. Wedding bags.com does have reasonable priced robes though!

    I would prefer the button-down.

Something no one ever mentions: If you have tall bridesmaids, robes might not work for them. I'm pretty tall, and those silky floral robes everyone has would probably be way too short on me. I can't wear anything meant to be short, like those robes are, for a normal-height woman without being in danger of my butt hanging out . I'd suck it up and wear it with leggings under it for the pictures, but then never wear it again.

There are a million places to get them for a variety of prices. Virtually any clothing store for shirts, robemart, AliExpress, and several others for robes. Please remember that photo props such as these, no matter how dresses up you make them, are not considered gifts to your wedding party.

I, personally, would not want either. I am very busty, and a rob just makes me look like a blob, while pretty much any button down shirt looks obscene unless I'm drowning in it.

Please take into account your girls' body types when making decisions like this.

PP have some good points about these not being gifts, and that they may not being comfortable for everyone. I would also add, don't put "bridesmaid" or your wedding date or anything similar on them unless you want them to go straight in the bin after the photos (the girls names might be ok, if they are those types of girls). I might reuse a robe or wear a button down again, but I definitely wouldn't if it said bridesmaid on it or had your wedding date.

I like the robes because the girls can use them again. I wouldn't put anything on them tho. Just a plain cute robe that they will like. I plan on getting my girls their fave color, but all the same style. As far as it not being a gift, I think it is. Your buying them something they would like/want. Yes there will be photos of us getting ready but I bought the robes simply because I think it's easier to get ready in them, especially getting your hair done. It's a thing my girls would actually like/use so that's why for my specific case, it's a gift. Just like the jewelry I'll buy them, and personalized tumblers. They can choose to wear it the wedding day/drink the mimosas out of them .. but I could honestly care less! It's all stuff I'd like in photos but it's not required. I bought them all things they like and can use again. If you have girls who really aren't into that then I wouldn't even go the route of buying it unless it's literally only a photo prop. I've seen them on robemart.com, amazon, eBay, and if you put it in etsy search there are a ton of them!

I bought the robes for my girls off amazon. I now wish I had gotten the monogram button down shirts, because the robes will be worn for a few minutes that day for pictures and then probably never again vs a monogram shirt that people may actually wear around the house and whatnot. Alas, wedding wire wasn't in my life when I made that decision.
