Bridesmaid Robe Alternatives and thoughts on FLOWER crowns?!

So I know bridesmaid robes and flower crowns are ALL the rage right now, which makes me hesitant to give in to the trend. I love the idea of robes, and giving something my girls can get ready in the morning of the wedding. Any thoughts on robes alternatives? I'm not a huge fan of the plaid button...

So I know bridesmaid robes and flower crowns are ALL the rage right now, which makes me hesitant to give in to the trend. I love the idea of robes, and giving something my girls can get ready in the morning of the wedding. Any thoughts on robes alternatives? I'm not a huge fan of the plaid button downs, or the bridesmaid shirts to get ready in (pulling over the head with makeup and hair done, just a no for me). My friend did really pretty baby down night gowns, and they were gorgeous but with half of my girlfriends being very blessed in the chest, they might not be comfortable in a very low cut baby down night gown type of thing.

Also any thoughts on floral crowns? I think they add so much to the girls hair but I don't want to look back in 5 years and say "wow were we at a wedding or at Coachella fest?!". Maybe it's just me but I'm worried the flower crowns could date the photos VERY quickly? I really like the simple ones though! Thanks everyone Smiley smile

I do not flower crowns. Period. I have no desire to wear one, or force anyone to wear one. Unless you want to be a living Snapchat filter...

Flower Crowns are on their third go round. Brides wore them in the early 80s and the hippies wore them in the late 60s. Most were made of daisies. I would be hesitant about going for anything faddish. Look at those godawful padded shoulders of the 80s and the headband veils. Don't get me started on mutton chop sleeves and Juliet caps. Wedding pics shouldn't scream the year you were married in.

Flower crowns could be great depending on the style you're going for, and there's bunches of options for gifts other than robes if you're not sure what you want. Like PP have said, oversized shirts, pajamas, and other stuff like that would work too. You can even do fluffy bath robes instead of silk ones.

@Nancy, what's your issue with Juliet caps? I'm going to be wearing one, so I'm curious.

My daughter who is 9 will have a flower crown (she is a Jr bridesmaid). I personally HATE robes so I ordered personalized fleece onesies (LOL) for the girls and I to wear when we get ready.

I was planning on giving the bridesmaids robes or something else to get ready in as my way to ask them to be in the wedding, so I personally don't think it's too early. Plus I'd rather plan stuff early instead of waiting until the last minute since there's so many moving pieces in a wedding Smiley smile

I personally like the idea of robes, and think it would be such an awesome photo moment to have with my girls. But, I want to be certain that in about 8 or 9 months I still will feel the same. So, I'm I'm going to wait until 3-4 months before the date to order them.

I thought about doing flower crowns, at the early stages of planning. A few months later, I have changed my mind.

Right, I know I won't change my mind about the robes because we're doing getting ready photos but I was just looking to see if anyone had other ideas. As far as flower crowns I know I can wait and still decide later on but I was just wanting to know if people thought the idea was just a fad for the time being. Smiley smile

I got my girls tank tops they can wear with yoga pants, shorts, sweats, etc. and I almost gave into the flower crown trend but opted not to and decided with really thin sparkly headbands that can be worn with any hairstyle

My bridesmaids can wear whatever they want to the wedding, but I'm giving them a flower crown to designate their title.

I'm not a fan of robes so I'm looking into PJs for sure. More comfortable, I think! I'm pretty sure I'm going to get my girls these. Look on pinterest, though!

I'm wonder this same thing & its never too early ;-) I dont have an idea for you & im commenting to follow !

But also something to keep in mind along with not messing up the hair or makeup with a pull over is what the bridesmaids feel comfortable wearing - my older sister has specifically told me she isn't comfortable in shorts or things that show that much leg so i am keeping that in mind I'm not gonna spend $30 on a robe my sister doesn't feel comfortable and relaxed wearing just to be cute in pics - just food for thought while you hunt for something ! If I was in your wedding, I would not like having to wear a robe to get ready. In my experience, they don't stay closed all the time and that sounds like a wardrobe malfunction waiting to happen

I might ask them what they feel comfortable in. They can definitely wear shorts/ a tank top under the robes if they're uncomfortable. Especially because some may be see through. I'll shop around though, I saw VERY pretty sunflower ones that I love on Etsy!

I'm not getting them anything. They can wear their own clothes lol. We have hair appointments in the morning/early afternoon. So we are probably meeting there and then back to my moms for makeup. I feel like it's not practical to get them something to change into once they are already wearing their Normal clothes at that point in the day??
