Bridesmaid Having Baby

I just found out my childhood best friend who is one of my two bridesmaids is pregnant and due in May. It’s not a total surprise as I knew she was trying, but it does leave her with a 5 month old baby that she’ll presumably need to bring to the October wedding (which will otherwise be completely...
I just found out my childhood best friend who is one of my two bridesmaids is pregnant and due in May. It’s not a total surprise as I knew she was trying, but it does leave her with a 5 month old baby that she’ll presumably need to bring to the October wedding (which will otherwise be completely baby/child free).

What are some things I can expect? Is there anything I can do to make things easier on her? Her husband and mother will both be attending, so she’ll have some back up during the ceremony. I just know nothing about babies (and I’m not a baby person) so I’m not sure how to navigate this situation.

    That is so sweet of you! maybe offer someone to sit the baby for her so she can enjoy herself.. or maybe she will leave the baby with her in law

    That’s such a cute idea!!! Trust me, having a baby at the wedding was not something I ever wanted or expected to have to worry about (no kids was my first wedding decision) but I’m trying to look at this as a test of my flexibility. I’m sure there will be other areas of compromise throughout the wedding planning, so this is a good start. My friends and family won’t remember that there was a baby hanging around on the wedding day, but they will remember if I make people feel disrespected. And you never know, based on the above comments she might not even want to bring her baby.

    It was my first decision too! I agree with everything you said. You seem like a very level headed person and I hope wedding planning goes great for you and your day is amazing!! Smiley smile

    You can have her sit with you with the baby in her lap, or you can ask her to bring a highchair. Have some baby snacks there and toys.
