Bridesmaid Gifts: Ideas that are "non girly"

Sam, on January 20, 2015 at 2:02 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 11

Hi, everyone!

I need a few awesome ideas for bridesmaid gifts.

Quite a number of my bridesmaids are not girly at all - hardly wear makeup, not into spas, or barely wear jewelery. I know a lot people are doing the silk robes and cute hangers, but that just isn't my girls either. What are some different things that you guys have done? Any thoughts on unique and fun bridesmaid gifts are welcome! So fire away, ha!

FYI: I did get them all a necklace for the ceremony (not all have their ears pierced, so earrings were out, ha), and a nice tote to carry their stuff the day of.

Thank you in advance!

My MOH is the opposite of girly to the point that some people are shocked that she's going to wear a dress! I'm sure if she could show up wearing jeans and a t-shirt she would! LOL

So far I'm getting them Alex & Ani style bracelets with matching necklaces and a bottle of wine (maybe tequila for MOH). I haven't figured out what else I'm getting them.

What are the girls' interests? Any writers? A nice leather-bound journal and pen would be much appreciated. Sports fans? Two inexpensive tickets to a game or a jersey. Musician? Tickets to a show at a local jazz club.

My MOH is not a girly girl, I wanted to give her something unique and useful. When I found it and mentioned it to DH he liked it so much he gave it to his groomsmen and best man also (we also gave one to FIL and bought one for us). It is a 4 in 1 tool from Things Remembered. It is a wind up flashlight/radio/alarm siren and cell phone charger. It has a place where you can engrave it. They were a hit with all the recipients.

I made sharpie mugs for my girls and I'm including their favorite hot beverages (eg, some like coffee, one's a tea drinker, another likes hot chocolate) in part of their gift. What about gift cards to places that involve hobbies? If one girl's into sports or something, I'm sure a Sports Authority card or something would be appreciated.

For my girls, I also made getting ready outfits (not really part of the gift) and I'm giving them wristlets (but that doesn't sound like your crowd) and pashminas. I hand made totes as well.

What would you get them for their birthdays? Get them something unique to them and your relationship with them. I am getting each of my bm something different. One of my bm and I go to Starbucks together a few times a week. I will probably get her coffee or a Starbucks gift card.

I ordered stemless wine glasses with each girl's name on it. Here's where I purchased them: https://www.etsy.com/listing/197592392/personalized-glass-wine-glasses-with?ref=shop_home_feat_4

    They came out great!

My good friend gave us all LL Bean tote bags that were personalized with our names on them. She included inside the tote bags a bottle of wine, a personalized jewelry travel case and earrings for us to wear in the wedding. I LOVE my tote--it is completely useful. I bring it to the gym, and I bring it to work. You don't have to fill it with girly stuff, and you don't have to fill it at all--the tote on its own is a great, functional gift. AND they are affordable! Good luck!

Nordstrom has these great gift ideas on their website. And it's helped me find more unique items that I might possibly give as my personalized gifts.
