Bridesmaid-dresses they can ACTUALLY wear again?

I'm having a whimsical outdoor wedding, and I'm looking for bridesmaid-dresses that the girls won't have to spend an arm and leg on just for it to end up in the back of the closet. I'm okay with the colors or styles being mismatched as long as they complement each other, but all the places I've...

I'm having a whimsical outdoor wedding, and I'm looking for bridesmaid-dresses that the girls won't have to spend an arm and leg on just for it to end up in the back of the closet. I'm okay with the colors or styles being mismatched as long as they complement each other, but all the places I've found the dresses are over $100 and very obviously for a wedding. Does anyone have any suggestions on where to shop?

My girls actually found dresses at David's Bridal that are perfect for wearing again to a party. All but 1 were under $100. I would stop into places like Macy's and JC Penny for something formal, but able to wear again

My girls got theirs at Macy's. MY sister literally was at the store and said, Omg, this is cute--I like this! And I sent the pic to my other bridesmaids and they got it as soon as they saw the pic. And my wedding dress I got at macys. lol Black dresses can be worn again.

I would look for cocktail/special occasion dresses from a department store like Macys. They don't have the label bridesmaid but they are a good price and can be reworn to other cocktail parties, etc.

For 2 weddings I've been in, I've re-worn the bridesmaid dresses. The second one I would have re-worn more than once except the color washed me out. The dress on its own is a fabulous dress.

I'm blown away by these suggestions! I've spent the last hour or so browsing the sites that have been mentioned and I've found so many that it's impossible to pick. I think now I'm leaning toward completely mixed dresses, and just making sure there is a discussion before purchasing. Our colors are clover green, blush pink, burgundy, and tan, so there are tons of options. I particularly like the floral or patterned maxi dresses that I've found. I just made a Pinterest board linking to all the dresses that caught my eye so far, so I'll just add them to it. You guys have helped so much!

Got my BM dresses at DB. I chose the color and length. They picked their favorite style, which was also my favorite on each of them. They all loom and feel great on their dresses. Being floor length makes it more difficult to wear again. But for $25-30 they can have them altered and shortened to rewear for not so formal events. My colors are plum and navy. I am very glad I let them pick different styles so they all feel beautiful. I think if will look really good still too!

I agree with cocktail length and letting them pick their own dress will increase chances of wearing again

We went to DB and I told them to pick any purple dress they liked, they could afford, and they'd wear again. They each picked a different dress (in different price ranges) and they've all said they want to wear theirs again. So my advice is to give them a color and let them pick whatever dress they want.

I have never worn a BM dress again, even the black ones. They just always look like BM dresses!

    I would suggest: https://www.lilyboutique.com or https://savedbythedress.com/collections/maxi-dresses

I chose dresses from Macy's. They were $89 and I know at least 2 of the 3 girls used coupons when they bought them. We weren't able to get together to shop.for the dresses so I actually went and bought a couple dresses from there and then brought them when I saw everyone for them to try on. I planned on just returning the dresses or selling them to one of the BMs to use. I ended up keeping the one we chose and wore it to a wedding I attended last month.

I know you've had lots of advice already, but I'll also add - the bridesmaid dress that I wore and still wear to this day, is a black cocktail dress that we got at a department store.

I suggested doing the same for my bridesmaid, but she ended up wanting an infinity dress.

This is the dress that I wore, it is a good 7 years old now though. Sorry, the only pic I could find now of me in it, I am wearing it in the background. For the wedding, we had ribbon of her colour tied around waist, and a wrap in her colours.

I actually have that exact dress @Abbigail has and I've worn it to tones of events and get compliments every time! that'd be a nice option

I had my girls get a flowy infinity dress from Etsy - so far they all love them and have said they will definitely wear them again

I only have 3 girls so maybe it was just a little easier, but I had them get this $32 dress on Amazon and they love it. One of my bridesmaids bought this colored material to go underneath the skirt to wear in the future with it.

I actually bought one for myself first to make sure it was nice and ended up keeping it - I wear it to work all the time! It needed to be dressed up with a little bow belt and whatnot, but it's super comfy.

It really comes down to what you want. If you really want casual, give them a color scheme and a length and tell them to have at it. I will warn you, most bridesmaids DO NOT like this option! It ends up being too much work for them.

Like others have said, black cocktail dresses are easy to wear again, but don't go with a whimsical theme.

I used azazie. I think if you choose a short style then they can definitely find dresses that they could wear again (to future weddings or whatever)

I had the girls rent dresses from Vow To Be Chic; I think it was $85ish each and then obviously didn't keep the dresses which they were happy about.

David's Bridal has some great prices! I told my girls to just get an apple red dress as long as it wasn't satin and they all found something they liked in their price point and all of the dresses are going to look so pretty together! They all got a pretty good discount since I also bought my dress there.
