Bridesmaid dresses that don't look like bridesmaids dresses

Sarah, on October 31, 2011 at 6:31 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 12

I have been a bridesmaid enough times to know that anytime the bride says "I picked this style because you can so wear it again," she is totally lying! I don't want to saddle my bridesmaids with another dress that will only get worn once, so I want to find a dress that is not actually a bridesmaid dress but that will look appropriate for the occasion all the same.

Anyone know of any good places (stores, websites) to look? I'm thinking cute cocktail dress but that would still work well for a bridesmaid...

Www.henkaa.com This is the convertible dress, it comes tea length and long, I'm using them for my wedding and all BMs got it already and they're very happy :-)

YOu can also go to stores like macy's, jc penney they carry cute styles and sometimes chepaer than BMs specialized stores.

My BMs will be wearing this David's Bridal style # 83707. They definitely are excited to wear it and THEY have told ME that it looks like a dress they could wear again because it looks like a short cocktail dress.

BMs will be wearing it in clover and MOH will be in rose petal.

You might consider just giving them all a color and length, and having them choose their own dresses. It is really hard to find one style of dress that works for all body types, and that can be worn afterward.

Amsale has nice dresses too; they are sold @ Nordstrom and Bloomingdales. J.Crew also, but they are a bit $$$.

Deb for mine. They're a bit more casual but I loved it and so did my girls (luckily they're all a similar shape- Sorry if the picture is huge- couldn't resize) It also looks better w/out a sports bra on- lol but it's just the picture I have.

I know a girl I work with had her girls just get a plain black dress, whatever style they wanted and they thought fit best with their body types, and then she gave them each a matching sash to tie around their wastes to tie it all together. It looked very classy, and the girls looked happy and comfortable, plus, every girl NEEDS a little black dress, so it worked out well for them because they were actually re-wearable! Smiley smile

I did what 2d suggested. I actually picked out a number of styles ahead of time. They pulled them all in everyone's size. They each ended up with a dress they really liked and they are in the styles I love, too. Even so, I can't guarantee that they'll actually be worn again. I think they will, but you never know because your BMs will always play nice!
