Bridesmaid dresses and Hairstyles. Should they choose??

I would say yes. If they can choose their dresses I’d also recommend them choosing their hairstyles as well.

I'd let them choose their hairstyle. Unless you want them to all look reeeeeally similar, the hairstyles aren't going to impact the look much. My bridesmaids are all in matching dresses, but I let them choose their hair and makeup styles.

Absolutely let them choose. They know what looks best for their face and plus, their personalities will shine through. Congratulations!

I would let them choose their own hairstyles. Everybody has a different face shape and structure, and not everyone looks good in every style. Since you are asking them to stand in front of a crowd of people, I would let them choose whatever style they feel most beautiful in. Plus, when I see bridesmaids with matching dresses, hairstyles, and make up I think it looks super dated (hello 1980s).

I’m letting mine choose theirs. They get to choose their own hair styles, dresses and shoes. As long as the dresses were in a shade of the color I asked. Theres only two of them so they’ve taken it upon themselves to compare stuff and try to coordinate with their outfits

Yes, let them choose how they want their hair styled. I let mime choose hair and makeup. However I picked out the dress and color.

You probably would be okay telling them the general style you are looking for but still let the choose from there. If they all like the idea, then all the better. Just don't make it a requirement.

I wanted my girls to feel their best so I just told them a color for dress, shoes, jewelry, and let them decide which style for those and hair/makeup they wanted. I paid for their hair, but didn't care how they had it styled. 4/5 had their hair in an updo, 1 had it half up/half down. And it didn't really impact any esthetic or anything for the day.

Hello and Congratulations to you both and welcome to the wedding wire family. Ok I choose the style and color I also have different body types and sizes. So they also are different sizes so and yes they have different style dress. So at the time first date was summer wedding but with the covid situations. We had push back some months and now we are here I could exchange the dresses for a different material. So we have what we have so I chosen 1 spaghetti strap 1 off the shoulders sweetheart neckline strapless and 1 on the shoulders styles by the way all have split which they were very pleased about. But 1 of my ladies who is 1 of my MOH'S we trying exchange her color to yellow we have 2 weeks to go fingers crossed that she does. But I approved every style of the nails not much bling on it but the feet now everyone. Must for the feet is a french pedicures ,hairstyles and jewelry and shoes my BMDS are where sliver strap shoes and my MOH'S are wearing a nude color shoe. But we must not to give them to say because then your control goes out the window.

Maybe give them a choice to pick from certain hairstyles. I would send them pictures of at least three different styles and let them pick the one they want. I think anyone can pull off a nice ponytail.

I only had 3 ladies with me, like you said everyone has their own style so I just asked them to stay in the peach shade and wear your hair your way( just feel beautiful) it worked out

I would personally let them choose their hairstyles, as the same hairstyle may not suit everyone.

I also have my wedding in June and I bought dresses for my bridesmaids from Princessly. I found that below dress style is suitable for all shapes and sizes.

This is my current dilemma! I am wearing a Galia Lahav gown, for a hot summer day ceremony, and I’d LOVE for them to wear a soft champagne color. (All my girls also have different body shapes) the least that I could do is let them pick their own dress cut and material. I also struggled with the whole hair and make up. I decided to show them pictures of my desired hairstyle so that at least they know not to do the same. Best of luck!

Goose2, I love the idea of encouraging them to pick their own hairstyles. Each one will know what looks best on her.

I’m coming back to repost here now that I’ve gotten married and I have a few preview photos to show what it looked like letting my bridesmaids do their own thing so you have an example for hair and others if their debating on matching dresses or not. The groomsmen wore the same thing but my two bridesmaids wore different dresses in slightly different shades of the color I wanted and wore their own hairstyles and makeup. My one bridesmaid threw on a shawl she bought that she didn’t wear for group photos but wore for the ceremony and matched the groomsmen. I don’t think them wearing what was comfortable for them or having different hairstyles or nail colors or even shoes affected the look at all!
