Bridesmaid Dresses and Cost

Lakisha, on February 4, 2022 at 12:01 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 32
Hey ladies. If you don’t mind sharing the price of your Bridesmaid dresses, that would help me a lot.

I’m trying to be mindful of the cost and keep in mind everyone doesn’t think like me.
When I was in my cousin (like a little sister) our dresses were $270 and I didn’t complain but paid happily.

Mine will be ordering theirs off azazie and they range in price from about 100-150. There are some cheaper or more expensive options but thats where most fall.

I would ask your bridesmaids what theyre comfortable spending. I sent an anonymous google poll where they check off their max price they'd pay, and then looked for dresses no higher than the lowest max price they gave me. Most were comfortable paying up to $200, so I picked dresses that ranged from 175-200

Thank you so much Elycia. I’m just having a hard time finding dresses in Mauve. Azazie has Dusty Mauve and I want to get as close to the color Mauve I can get.

Mine will be ordering from either David's Bridal or Azazie. They're picking out their own dresses so they can control the cost, but I don't believe anyone will go above $150. I personally couldn't imagine having my girls spend over $150 for a dress for one day. For your bridesmaids, the best thing you can do before looking for dresses is to ask them their budget. I've had to pay $250 for a bridesmaid dress that fit me terribly and I will never wear again, and was pretty upset (not openly to the bride) considering I never spend that much on clothing regularly.

Edit: The best way to find what colors work is to order swatches! Each place has different names for the same color, and sometimes the name doesn't match the color. For example, my color is either paprika at Azazie or Sienna at DB and they look nearly identical.

I've been a bridesmaid once and I paid $160 for mine (though it needed to be taken in a whole size, so that doesn't count alterations).

One good thing is that my Mom is a seamstress so she’s doing alterations for free 🤗

I would order some swatches from them if you havent. The photos on the website can be a little deceptive and the swatches only cost like $1 a piece and they usually have a code for free shipping. I ordered 4 or 5 different coral/pinks to find the right one and it definitely wasnt the one i thought i'd choose.

If I were you I'd order champagne mauve, vintage mauve, dusty rose, and the dusty mauve to see if any of them appear closer to what you want in person. Keep in mind it looks like the dusty mauve is mesh only.

Thank you so much Jessi. I’ve ordered so many swatches, I can probably make a dress from all the swatches I have.

The dress I paid $270 was cute and it fitted perfectly but never wore it again.

My girls are using Azazie as well. I agree with ordering swatches. I think they're $2 a swatch from Azazie, but I knew I wanted some form of purple/mauve, and I ordered a ton in that range, and I ended up loving the Wisteria swatch, and its actually slightly darker, more muted than it appears on the website

my girls had a range of where they got their outfits from - it literally went from a discount store to amazon to lulu's and to azazie, so that's why it ranged from $15 to $150.

my bridesmaid dress i actually got from Forever 21 haha and it was a dress that was semi formal enough to be worn for the wedding! i'm actually really happy about it because it's also kind of casual enough to be worn like on a nice dinner out too.

i've got a photos of it. it is a wrap dress that can be tied in different ways. please excuse my dirty mirror haha.

We used Dessy and the bridesmaids dresses were between $100-125 depending on the style that each girl selected (I chose the color and designer but let my girls choose their own style). This was 2.5 years ago though and the prices of these dresses have since gone up to between $125-150. We had a great experience with Dessy and the quality was fantastic.

I've also been a bridesmaid 8 times and I've usually paid between $100-175 for my dress.

Thank you so much for your response. I feel kind of bad because the dresses I choose are from Bari Jay and they are $230 and $250. They are able to make payments. My wedding is 1/1/23.

Dresses were $130 from David’s bridal! They are also paying for their own shoes, hair and makeup, if they choose.

    I’m buying their accessories

I let them choose their own dresses. I just asked that it is green. I want them to be comfortable in what they are wearing so they are not uncomfortable all day. They all agreed as a group to show everyone in a group email what they choose. It has been fun seeing what everyone is picking and everyone being a part without them stressing.

My bridesmaids chose different styles of the same color from Kennedy Blue. Ranged in prices from $100-$120 but unfortunately they had to pay $25 extra for rush shipping (I offered to pay but 2/3 said it was ok).

My bridesmaids got their dresses from Birdy Grey for $99, it looks like they have mauve and dark mauve on there. I second the suggestion to order swatches!

Several local bridal salons in my area had bridesmaid dresses from $200 to 350 (+alterations). I sent my bridesmaids a list (store website, street address, price range, etc) via email and asked if anyone had any preferences on when/where we go (They didn’t want to shop online). They didn’t, so I set up two appointments - one at David’s Bridal (as they had bridesmaid dresses staring at $99) and the other where I ordered my wedding dress. We looked at dresses in Ballet, Blush, Dusty Rose, Quartz, and Wine. They all preferred one dress in Wine (much darker in person, more of a burgundy color) at David’s Bridal, which was $115 (included a $20 off coupon through their free reward program). They ordered their shoes, different styles in Rose Gold, from DB as well (They regularly have had Buy 1, Get 1 50% off sales), and they were $25-40 each (before the discount). I bought rose gold bracelets from Kate Spade Outlet as part of their thank you gifts, and plan to pay for their hair/makeup if they choose to have it done professionally with me.
