Bridesmaid dress & shawl

kellyann, on July 24, 2015 at 11:52 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 16

With my wedding in November, I would like to order some shawls for my ladies in case anyone gets a bit chilly .. this will not be worn for the ceremony or any official part of the reception nor pictures.

It's just something extra if their shoulders get cold throughout the evening... Here is a picture of their dress, color as pictured (blush). What color shawl do you think will go best? Gray, silver, champagne, ivory, navy .. should they all get the same color or different colors (it will be part of the bridesmaid gift bag and I will have their initials stitched)

Ivory, for sure - it will be most easily able to be re-used after the wedding. Gray and champagne are tricky because there are warm and cool shades, and you may have a hard time finding the right one, especially if ordering online. Ivory will work with a lot of variation, from eggshell to cream. I'd put the initials in the same color as the shawl, so it's subtle, or a light blush similar to the dress, but personally I'd prefer same-color so it's a nice reminder of the day without standing out too much. That's a lovely idea, and I'm sure they'll get lots of use from them!

I did light grey shawls for my bridesmaids and they all love them. I think grey or champagne would be nice with that dress. And it would be a color they will use again. Where do you plan on getting them from? I ask because I originally ordered from Amazon but they were very cheap and looked awful. I returned them and I ended up finding some I really liked at kohls on sale for just a few dollars more.

I like the light grey or ivory suggestion. I am thinking of doing something similar - faux fur stoles for my February wedding.

Funny, I would say gray, champagne, or navy because I never ever wear ivory or white. I would never reuse an ivory shawl. If the shawls are not to be used in the ceremony or pictures so they don't need to match, why don't you get each girl a color that suits her style or personality?

I did a light gold shawl for my girls. I wanted to get them each something different, but their dresses are different colors, so figured it'd help tie things together.

Thanks ladies! Ivory and gray seem to be most popular so far ... I agree ivory will match best, but as Jacqui said, they prob wont wear ivory again and I don't want the product to go to waste ...

Natalie, I am ordering them from Etsy, I'm currently waiting on fabric samples. I am definitely willing to pay a few more bucks for better quality as I do want the ladies to be able to use them again. If you can post the link to the item from kohls that would be great!

My linens are champagne which is why I like the color, but at the same time, I don't want to have too much of it ..

That's interesting about the ivory - I guess I'm the oddball! I used to travel a lot so I have shawls in different seasonal fabrics in brown, black, cream, red, dark pink, and various stripes/patterns. The only one I don't wear is actually gray! c'est la vie

I bought the Kohl's ones in store so I don't have a link. They were Apt. 9 brand though. They were good quality not great quality, what I would expect for a $10 wrap from Kohls. I bought one for myself too and have used it a bunch since and it has held up well.

ETA: I bought them in store but I think this is the same thing online: http://www.kohls.com/product/prd-1760806/apt-9-twill-pashmina-wrap.jsp

I think the Grey would be nice. I personally don't wear much ivory, but have a lot of different shades of grey that I like

I love the idea of having them personalized. I like navy with blush, its a great contrast and it a hot trend color combo for fall 2015
