Initially when we went to David's Bridal to pick the bridesmaid dresses 7 of my 11 bridesmaids attended. Of those 7, 3 of the bridesmaids ordered their dresses on the spot, and 1 of the 4 that didn't come ordered theirs the next week. So in total 4 of my bridesmaids have ordered their dresses. When we went they told us it would take 12 weeks to come back, and we should factor in the holidays and Chinese New Year since production normally halts during that time. Because of this I set a deadline of November 15th for everyone to have their dresses ordered. One of my MOH (she's out of town) called me today and said that her dress was in and could I pick it up for her. It has been exactly 5 weeks, which is way quicker than I expected for the dresses to come back. Should I give the rest of the bridesmaids a little more time to order since there was such a quick turnaround, or should I leave the deadline as is?

I would leave the deadline. If you push the deadline back you get into Christmas shopping season and they might be tight on their cash at that point after buying presents and not have the extra money to buy the dress.

@Snarky if they don't order the dress in enough time for the wedding then of course they can't be in the wedding.

@Jesse's Girl I think that's part of the reason I originally selected before the holidays. I'm a bit nervous that if we wait until after Christmas there won't be enough time to receive the dress and any alterations they may need

Taking care of my bridesmaids dresses now as well.. I personally would keep the deadline, truth be told every place you go to has different delivery time frames. The place I took my girls to, told me it could take up to 4 months for the dresses to come back, so I right away give everyone until october 23 to get them ordered, keeping in mind I gave them 1 month plus of notice. Good thing i did because I found out later on, that they don't order them until everyone comes in for the measurements to ensure that all the girls are wearing the exact same color I chose. Anyway i digress, go with your instincts and do what's best to ensure everyone will get a fair amount of time for fittings, so alterations can be done with no rush.

I would leave the deadline. When I had my bridal party meeting I let them know 2 months before hand. With David Bridal if you have to order the dress, they have to pay for the entire dress. If the dress is in the store than they can do a deposit. I'm hoping that they have the dress in store so my bm only have to put down 60 percent. The dress I pick was 149 which isn't bad in my opinion. I totally understand if things come up, I just ask my bridal party to keep my wedding planner up to date if something goes wrong and they can't afford their dress at that time. I wanted them to get the dress before the holidays. I thought it was pushing it waiting til after the holidays.

Their dress was $169, but the salesperson gave them all $25 off to the ones who purchased the day we shopped. I'm going to the Houston wedding showcase on the 26th to get a coupon for the rest of them to use so hopefully that helps.
