Bridesmaid dress colors - help!

Dena, on March 8, 2023 at 7:55 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 6

Hi all!! Been debating about bridesmaid dress colors for months now but now must make a decision for my July wedding. I have 6 bridesmaids which includes 2 moh, was going to have the 2 of them wear a different color. Or I can have 3 colors with 2 girls in each.

I really l wanted peachy tones so was going to do the birdy grey terracotta and spice chiffon but didn’t love the fabric. Now debating for the birdy grey crepe fabric between the terracotta and dusty rose or the rosewood and dusty rose (not liking the 3 together). The former looks nice in their stock photo but in person I’m concerned the terracotta looks too orange. The latter just doesn’t speak to me but I can see that it might pair better.

I also just received the desert rose (see center dress in their photo, don't have a good image in the light yet) to see if it would look good with any of the other colors but concerned that will look brown in person and not summery. At this point I want to stick with birdy grey and not move to another brand.

Any opinions/advice? Not loving anything Smiley sad

Color pairing is the worst sometimes, I get it. Personally, out of the photos you picked, I like the terracotta, dusty rose, and rosewood (in that order). Having the dusty rose in the middle really brings it out and looks less faded like the first picture. If you only want two colors, then I would suggest the terra-cotta and rosewood. I will show you my colors (I’m doing reds and pinks) and a little bit of inspiration color palettes I found to maybe get you thinking about adding a different third color. Hope this can help you a little bit .

Here is one color palette (maybe go for the dusty peach, if they have that color)Bridesmaid dress colors - help! 5

    Hi there!

I’m doing similar colors. I feel like my house is full of swatches 😅I think it’s difficult to style when the bridesmaid dress are different colors AND different saturation levels. The terra-cotta and rosewood are different colors (a pinky plum vs peachy orange), but same saturation level (high saturation) which works! But adding the dusty rose which has a low saturation level (pastel) adds a layer of difficulty. For my Oct wedding, I chose to do similar colors (pinky rose colors) in different saturation levels, all long dresses but different fabrics. (See pic 1). The other direction I would’ve gone in is more purple (see pic 2).
If you want your MOHs to stand out, you could maybe give them a satin fabric or maybe a unique style?
I think I’m going to add rose gold as an option for more styles and possible dusty rose, your photo in the sunlight helped me get a better feel for what the color looks like, thanks!Bridesmaid dress colors - help! 7

When in doubt, consider the colors against the complexions of your bridal party, that may help you decide which direction you want to go. Hope you can figure it out.

Here is a photo of what I decided on if it helps! From L to R desert rose, dusty rose and rosewood crepe dresses from Birdy Grey! Will have the girls in 2/2/2 and maybe have my MOH wear a different necklace or something.

I will say when my girls tried on the chiffon spice and terracotta it was kind of wrinkly looking hence the switch to crepe.

I’m not feeling any of those colors for July. I think you should have the bridesmaids wear silky yellow dresses and gold shoes…it will be different
