Hello ladies! I have only posted once so far - I am more of an observer Smiley smile - but I have a huge issue that I feel like only brides-to-be can give me proper advice on! I have a bridesmaid who bought the wrong color dress and I don't know what to tell her! So, I let my 6 bridesmaids pick their dresses out of Alfred Angelo's line with a few instructions. 1. Navy blue 2. Short and 3. Chiffon fabric. I specifically told them to send me any pictures before they purchased the dress for approval (just to make sure it wasn't horrendous). 4 of my bridesmaids and I (2 live out of town) went to look/pick out dresses together. This particular bridesmaid refused to try out any dresses in front of me - I think she felt insecure. She picked a LACE one of the rack and said she wanted to order this but didn't want to get her measurements at the time and she would come back on her own. I was a pretty annoyed, but we talked about it and she went back that same week to order her dress. more in comments..

I feel pretty guilty about it so I'm just glad to hear that I'm not acting like a Bridezilla!

Chick needs to buy a new dress matching the few and reasonable parameters that you gave her. If she doesn't want to do it, she can wear her dress as a guest. End of story.

Total Bummer. So sorry you have to deal with this. I agree with the others to get a new dress. A more tough love option is to remove her from the wedding party and offer to pay her for the dress and then sell it on-line to get some money back.

Having family and friends who support your dream wedding is an important aspect of your day. If you out of town ladies can follow your dress options she can as well.

Hugs and hope all turns out in your favor.

She needs to exchange it for another dress. She really did not follow the simple instructions you gave. She chose what she wanted as if she were in charge-not cool.

That dress would not match your colors and the theme it sounds you're going with. she totally has to fix the mistake.

I can see the color maybe being a mistake, but it sounds like she also chose lace when everyone else chose chifon. 2 strikes. It sounds like she was determined to buy a dress she wanted that she can wear again..... sounds suspicious! Do you have a pic of the dress? Has she put up a fuss about other things? Maybe she is low on funds.... give her the option to bow out gracefully now and wear her beautiful BLACK LACE dress to the wedding as a guest.

I would make her buy a new dress. You can't have all of your BMs in navy and have one up there in black. Nope.

I think funds is an issue, which is why I'm shocked she didn't double check before purchasing a $180 dress! I agree - option to bow out is always there! I do feel bad she has to buy another but I think she can wear this one to rehearsal dinner and then we can find a cheaper option that is at least navy blue chiffon for the ceremony/reception.

I guess I never bought about the fact that she was buying a dress that she liked and was able to wear again. I'm just surprised because AA has a million different styles for everyone! She has been difficult at numerous steps along the way, starting with the fact that she refused to try on any dresses in front of me when we visited the bridal store with the other girls.

It sounds like she wants out of all of this..... gracefully cut her loose. You'll both be relieved and can stay friends! Some girls just aren't into the bridesmaid thing; It's not a character flaw. I'm the same way, I'm just up front about it at the beginning and say "No thank you", but then I do other things: bust my ass to set-up a kick ass bridal shower, buy a big ole' gift, set-up and clean up at their wedding if needed.... just don't make me stand in a matching dress and pretend I wanna catch a bouquet! Smiley smile

Very true! The funny thing is I really didn't want to ask her to be a BM and she basically begged me (we have had a long up and down history) so I don't THINK that she doesn't want to be one! Who knows, the who,e thing is pretty strange to me lol thanks for all your advice ladies !
