Brides with wrap/enhancer bands: solder (sp) before or after wedding?

Angie, on March 10, 2015 at 11:54 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 10

We picked out my wedding band last week. It's a ring enhancer/wrap type, where my e-ring will set between two conjoined bands.

We will get the band several weeks before the wedding. Is it better to solder (sp) the rings together before the wedding and honeymoon or can it wait til after? I'm concerned the rings will damage each other somehow if I don't do it before I wear them together.

Any input from brides with enhancers will be appreciated. Thanks!

I'm not getting mine soldered together at all. I don't really see the need since it fits so snug together.

My engagment ring and wedding band are a set. I have worn the wedding band since my FH proposed because the engagement ring is a solitare and the stone sits really high so I was worried I would damage the ring if I didn't have the band. I plan on getting mine soddered after the ceremony as I want to wear my engagment ring as I walk down the aisle and use the wedding band at the ceremony.

I am switching out one enhancer for another around emerald I am going to wait to get them soldered together until after the wedding just in case they need to be sized again. I have had my wedding band sitting in my drawer for about 6 months and it is currently too small. word of caution if you are getting an enhancer that is going to be three rings total your original ring size may not work due to the thickness of the ring. I found that out the hard way almost got my rings stuck they were so tight.. oops

My ring guard (that's what my appraisal paperwork called it) is way too big for me to wear on a daily basis. Plus, in my neighborhood, it screams "rob me". So I'm not getting mine soldered together. My jeweler told me that not much damage happens when they're properly fitted together. She's going to make me a smaller every day band once I get up enough balls to mail her my engagement ring.

Mine is not an enhancer, it's two rings one on each side. I just got my rings soldered together so I wanted to give you that perspective. Mine are not a perfect match so they don't fit together like they would if they were a set so they always look perfect since they are soldered. If you plan to wear your rings together all the time it does damage your rings quite a bit after several years. The only time I would consider not soldering them is if you plan to wear it seperately most of the time.

I plan to have mine soldered after our honeymoon. Which will stink because I'll probably have to go a week or two without my ring. I'll also need to get it resized when I have this done because as @Mrs. Bauer mentioned the thickness makes it all a bit snug.

I have a question for you ladies though. Will you give the whole set to your FH to put on your hand at the ceremony? Will you walk down without your e ring? Will your photographer take pics of it as a set? I didn't think about all this when i chose my wrap.

I'm going to give my engagement ring to the planner right before I walk down the aisle. She'll make sure the set makes its way up front by the time I'm there. You can't tell if you're wearing the ring while holding the bouquet, and no one is looking at your hands when you're walking.

Why solder them at all? If anything ever happens to one of your bands that needs to be fixed they need to take them apart which causes damage. I would never suggest one of my customers do this. Edit, they will not damage each other if they arnt soldered.

Thanks for the input ladies. I'll talk to my jeweler, and I'll definitely see if I'll need to get the set resized.

I planning on soldering mine together because my bands only have diamonds on the top half and I don't want them to spin separately. I still don't know if I want to do it before or after though.
