Brides with tattoos

Michelle, on February 22, 2022 at 6:08 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 11
Are you having them on full display that are not covered by your dress? Or will you be covering with makeup? Also if you have any bridesmaids with visible tattoos, are you letting them have them on display or covering them?

Generally most people don’t hide them in everyday life because it’s part of who they are.

I don’t have any tattoos, but half of my bridal party does and I’m happy for them to show! I’m getting all of my bridal party different outfits, and I have absolutely no problem with tattoos being on display- one dress I chose with an open back specifically for a friend with a large tattoo on her back. From my perspective, I knew they had tattoos when I asked them to be in the wedding, all the tattoos are very meaningful, and I just couldn’t see myself asking them to cover up a part of themselves

No one will be required or asked to cover their tattoos at our wedding, whether wedding party members or our guests. Nor will they be asked to stifle themselves or change in any way beyond tattoos either. Piercings, unnatural hair colors, unconventional hairstyles, alternative fashion… it’s all welcomed! We just want everyone to feel comfortable, confident, true to themselves- whatever that may be.

All my tattoos were on full display when we got married and my MOH who is heavily tattooed had most of hers showing as well. I would never ask someone to cover a tattoo because I know how much time and thought went into creating mine.

I would've never thought to cover mine ... I only have two small ones: one on my wrist, one on my ankle. I have one potential bridesmaid who is covered in them, and wouldn't have thought to ask her to cover hers either. Like you said, the tattoos are part of who we are - mine mean something, I know hers mean a lot as well. So yeah, didn't even occur to me.

Initially i was going to cover it because my mom absolutely hates mine and i had a sleeveless gown. and honestly i didn't want to keep hearing her nag about it

in the end i decided not to - you're just going to have to deal with it, mom. it was a source of contention on my day because she was very unhappy about me not covering them but it's my day, not yours and they are a part of me.

My dress shows my tattoo on my ribs but I think it compliments the look to be honest. The look has to be YOU and the tattoos are a part of you and what make you unique and beautiful!

I will be having mine on display. I would be to afraid to touch anything with makeup all over my arms

I’m kind of covering the one on my arm but mostly I’m trying to cover my bat wing arms since I’m over 50 and feel flabby. My tattoos will show but I don’t want them to be the focal point. Kind of an example of how I plan to cover up my arms some Brides with tattoos 1

I have tattoos on both arms that will not be covered by my dress. I initially wanted a sleeved dress because I feel self-conscious about my tattoos sometimes, but found the sleeves so uncomfortable on all of the dresses I tried on. I ended up going sleeveless and honestly never considered covering them with makeup. The closer I get to my wedding day, the more comfortable I’m feeling about just being myself. I’m also ditching the idea of wearing contacts in favor of glasses, because I know I’ll feel so much more like myself.

I am looking for an open back dress specifically so I can show off my tattoos. It will be a surprise for a lot of people because they are pretty much always covered up. Very excited to have them on display.
