Brides with medical devices (e.g. insulin pump)?

Dana, on January 12, 2021 at 10:40 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 6
Hey gals!

I'm a type 1 diabetic with both an insulin pump and a CGM. What the heck do I do with my devices on my wedding day? My dress shows enough cleavage that I can't tuck my pump in between my boobs. My dress is also fairly tight fitting so I'm worried about it bulging if I have a pocket sewn inside the dress. Do I go deviceless for the day? What are my fellow T1D brides doing?

I wouldn't go deviceless. Can you tuck it in your bra? That's where I tuck mine when I wear formal dresses. If you take the clip of it could be a better fit.

I have a friend who has this as well. I'll ask her what she did with hers and get back to you.

I am type 1 and have a pump as well and I was in the same boat. Heck no do not go deviceless as you do not want your glucose levels to rise and deal with that feeling. My seamstress luckily had a genius idea but I had a ball gown dress. She sewed a pocket on the inside where I could tuck it in the pocket within the skirt and still keep it attached. What kind of dress do you have?

Perhaps try to slip it around to the back of the dress where a bump wouldn't be seen? Like what news anchors do when on TV. Still able to get to it but still "hidden" in a way. I would not go without the device. Work with the one doing your fittings cause they probably have done this for other brides before.

That's a very nice trick your seamstress has thought of.
