Brides with Bangs (full fringe)

AKCouple, on January 14, 2017 at 3:48 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 24

Hey everyone, I've been thinking about this for a while and plan on going to my hair salon and asking as well, but would like to hear from your experiences too.

I've had bangs since I was 16 years old and whenever I try to grow them out I end up missing them and cutting them again. I've been growing them out for about a year now and they're at my chin (which I hate). I'm getting antsy again and want to cut them. The only thing holding me back is that I am worried that I won't be able to achieve the style I want on my wedding day with bangs. Could any of you advise me on whether or not hairspray and hairdresser-magic can help me achieve the look I want? I'm open to opinions about having my bangs down with the hairstyle pictured below as well (not sure if it would look good). I'm also putting up a picture to show what my bangs would be like (thickness/cut) in case that makes any difference.

Thanks for any/all advice!

I think that the style would work with the bangs. *If* you get your bangs cut again, would you be willing to split the fringe and blow dry them (and probably hairspray them) to make them look more "side swept?" (I hope I explained that well.)

I have bangs and sometimes consider growing them out but ultimately I hate my gigantic forehead so I always stick with them. I don't see anything wrong with keeping the bangs and having the hairstyle in the second picture. I want a half up half down style and intend on having bangs.

@MRS.KatieK I would be willing to do the hairspray thing to get them to stay back, but nervous that it might not look good..like maybe look too stiff or something.

@Miami I love when I have bangs too but they're really annoying sometimes lol. Whenever I get my hair done at the salon they tend to be much more manageable and I don't get as frustrated with them, so if I do cut them, I might leave them down. I was just thinking it would be safer for me to know that I could push them back into the hairstyle if it is possible before going through with cutting them.

Also, big foreheads rule the world!

I also think it might be possible to style the bangs into the curls. But I don't know ANYTHING about doing hair -- I'm terrible at doing my own, so not sure if that would work and turn out nicely.

I think if you cut bangs you have to plan on wearing them down or swept to the side. I would not spray them back. I've seen a lot of super cute wedding do's with bangs. Embrace the bangs!

ETA: I love bangs but don't have them at the moment.

I didn't mean spray them back so you have no bangs. Just spray them to the side so they look like they're side swept bangs (instead of straight across).

@Mrs.KatieK I gotcha now. I don't think I'd like that look on me honestly. You think that would be the only way to get them out of my face if I want to go with no bangs for the day?

@Sour ahh, I just want to cut them even more with the bang love from you and Miami. I just have days where I think they look disgusting on me (I have issues) and I'm afraid one of those days will be my wedding day where I'm extra critical about myself.

If you leave your bangs long, you could just incorporate them into the front curls. But if you feel self-conscious about your fivehead (all love here, I have one myself), have a stylist cut your bangs and show you options of how to make them "mesh" with your dream wedding hair.

ETA: And honestly, I think just pushing them off to the side (a la side swept bang) it would look lovely.

I have bangs and have had them for a while, I have also grown them out only to cut them again. On days when I want my bangs out of my face I twist them back with a Bobby pin. I'm sure if you speak with your hairdresser they will be able to come up with an option that works for you.

Thanks @Mrs.Katie that is good advice. I don't even have a 5head, I actually wish I did though because then bangs are easier to deal with. Mine are always in my eyes and look to short on my head which is probably why I start hating them at times. I think I might end up cutting them and figuring out a style that works nicely with them. I really love half-up and half-down and think it really won't hurt to have them. I am probably just being extra cautious because I know how flipfloppy I am with liking/disliking my hair all of the time.

Maybe ask your hairstylest to curl them next time you get your hair done, just to see if you like it. My gal loves to play with my hair Smiley smile

I am thinking about making an appointment this month! Is your hairstylist the same one you're hiring for your wedding day hair? @Kristin F

You can do a half up half down style with a French braid across the front and braid your bangs in to incorporate them.

I like this but not sure if it will swallow my head if I do it with full bangs @FR

I think you could add volume to the back with the bangs still. If you cut them now I would think you would have time to play around with it and then grow them back out enough to incorporate them into your hairstyle if you don't like the look with full bangs.
