Bride vs Photographer on Judge Judy

dks64, on May 27, 2010 at 6:37 PM Posted in Planning 0 24

I've only seen maybe 4-5 episodes of JJ, but I happened to be flipping past it and caught the beginning of an episode with a bride/photographer. The bride and her Mom were suing the photographer because they were unhappy with 3 things: the person who shot the engagement shots (the photographers Mom, it was in the contract though that 1 of 3 workers could shoot it), the location of the engagement photos (the Mom said it was a cemetery, photographer said it's a monument in the background, not headstones), and the fact that the bride was squinting in some of the shots. The bride was mad that the photographer didn't take out the bad shots.

I think the bride and her Mom were being ridiculous. A majority of the shots were really nice. I think the bride was expecting every shot to be perfect. Judge Judy is a wacko, but she was yelling at the bride and her Mom for trying to get out of paying for a service that was done properly.

Just curious as to what you thought of this. Smiley smile

I didn't see it, but based on your description, I agree with you. Not every shot will be perfect, and if the contract specified various photographers, there's not much they can complain about. Some people just want freebies.

I am sure the bride is so lazy that she is not working and sued the photographer for money to hand her lazy butt.

Oh, that was the second photo shoot too. The second one they had issues with the sun, so the photographer did a 2nd shoot free of charge. The Photographer tried hard to fix it. The Mother of the Bride was also saying "My daughter was crying all the time about how terrible the photo shoot was," (during) then you have the Photographers Mother say the daughter had a great time and was happy and smiling the whole time. Even if she was crying "all the time" about how bad it went after.... dramatic much? Geez. The bride and her Mom just rub me the wrong way.

Well the photographer did a second shoot for free. That's good.

I would hate being a wedding photographer--but the pay is good if you have good customers obviously. But yeah, their job is not easy.

Expectations are high. So prices are high. Of course, there will be conflict when people don't get what they want. But sometimes, the standards are too high too. And sometimes, photographers overcharge for the product that they deliver. Or they just take the money and just don't care.

Case by case basis, I guess.

In this case, I'm sure the ruling was fair.

    .

On a personal note, 8 out of 10 brides I know are not that thrilled with their wedding albums/pics. We are harshest critics of how we look in pics usually.

Uuuuh, the cemetary? Really, if she didn't want her pics taken at a cemetery I'm sure she wouldn't have gone there to take them...come on now did she really believe people and JJ would believe her. Sounds like they are trying to get something for nothing!

^^^ No kidding! She also said "I didn't want to take pictures in these awkward positions and she made me." Dude, you're an adult, no one MADE you do anything. She may not have been pleased with the way the shoot was going, but she should have voiced her opinion, Photographers are not mind readers.

Maybe next they'll sue the bartender because they didn't like the 'air' surrounding their drinks?!?!

This duo is crazy. Get a job people. Judge Judy is awesome though, I love when she yells at stupid people! =)

*It's better when they cry, or try to correct her and get their ass hand delivered to them by UPS

I didn't see it but is sounds totally stupid.

I do some photography on the side from my day job and you're never going to get a perfect shot every time! People look at the wrong camera's, people blink, some are smiling, some are not, some look totally bored. Its not a easy job.

    (I learned that recently! haha)

That is so ridiculous. People just baffle me.

MusicMeister - Thanks for posting that Smiley smile

Didn't you hear? The Photographer is now in charge of holding your eyes open for shots :p If it's bright, pull out a Tyra tip. Close your eyes, Photographer counts down, open them right when he/she gets to 3. Since the photos were all made into a book, it would have been nice if the shots she didn't like were taken out, but it sounds like the bride was just hateful about the whole darn shoot. Plus, that's something you agree to before the shoot. All the bride had to say was "Hey, can I see the photos before you order them so we can take out the ones I don't like?" The Photographer has no way of knowing which photos the bride will like or not.
