Bride and groom meals etiquette

Our venue does complementary bride and groom meals. Is it rude for the bride and groom to order something different than what they are feeding their guests? Our venue does complementary bride and groom meals. Is it rude for the bride and groom to order something different than what they are feeding their guests? I initially wanted to have steak topped with lobster as our steak for our guests but we have a handful of people that are allergic to shellfish but prefer steak, so we put lobster for one of our past hors d’oeuvres and just knocked it down to steak. There will also be chicken dishes and vegan dish but most people will probably want the steak. I love lobster and my fiancé hates lobster. Would it be rude of me to order the steak with lobster on it?If I was attending a wedding I would totally not mind the bride and groom eating something different, but when I think about it for myself I feel like there’s definitely an etiquette boundary that I’m crossing.

I was thinking the same thing! We have the option of adding scallops and I absolutely love scallops.

Yes, it would be rude to serve the bride and groom something that's not available to the guests.

Yeah I agree. My fiancé also said it’s really tacky. I think I might just talk to my catering venue to see if they’ll allow people to order it without the lobster on top. For whatever reason we have a boatload of people, including my maid of honor, that have shellfish allergies and I’m like dang I love shellfish. We were going to have a raw bar but we decided to cancel that too because of how many people can’t eat shellfish.

Yeah I mean I’ve seen it done at pretty much every wedding I’ve gone to and it’s never bothered me at all but, you know that there’s going to be those people that find it so rude.
