Bridal suite worth it or not?

FutureMrsWalton, on January 22, 2015 at 10:26 PM Posted in Planning 0 14

I only have 3 BM's. We all live in the same area. We are going to a beauty salon to get hair and make up done and then I was thinking about just going back to my house to get ready. I guess I'm just trying to decide if it will be worth it to get a bridal suite or should I just reserve a room for me and my FH for our wedding night? We would only be in the suite for about an hour max if we had one. If anyone could give me advice, I would appreciate it.

I don't want to miss out on the getting ready pictures!

Would the suite be at your venue??

My venue comes with usuage of a bridal suite so we're taking advantage of it and getting ready there...

In your case doesn't seem worth the cost if its only for an hour???

It may not be worth it for you then. I decided to do it for a few reasons. We are going to have the hair and makeup person come to us. The hotel is 5 minutes from the venue as opposed to the 35 minutes from my condo. I also would like to be able to check-in and leave my fh's and my stuff in the room before the wedding, easier to do if I already checked-in the night before. How much will it cost you to get it?

A hotel bridal suite is great for getting ready in, if you're not using it for that I would skip it.

I have been in many weddings where we all get dressed at the Bride's or family member's house, or even our own, then went together or met at the salon & then headed straight to the venue.

If your venue has a changing room, you can meet at the salon, and then all change at the venue.

I like the bridal suite because I think the pictures will be nicer. If I had to get ready at home I would be cleaning non stop for 2 weeks and rearranging the furniture so it looks good in the pictures.

My venue wasn't a hotel but had a "bridal suite" still. Many do, included in the rental. I've always gotten ready in a hotel or bridal suite. We didn't consider home because it can take an hour to drive the 15 miles here. So we got ready at the venue. It was nice to not be worried about time, travel, traffic, being late, etc. But really it's whatever you're comfortable with. Will you be able to easy get in/out of a car in your dress?

I wouldn't. Just get ready all at the same place with the girls. If you are going right to the venue at the start time then hang out at the house. Otherwise see if your venue has a place you guys can stay separate.

For example. I will be staying at a hotel the night before with some bridesmaids (i'm out of town and so are the girls) then we will get ready in the hotel all day. FH and I will then go back there after the wedding. Before the guests start arriving we will go out venue and they have some other rooms and said we could use one to hang out in and finish getting ready as guests arrive until it's time for our ceremony to start (we have everything in one venue). Essentially it's just a room for you guys to hang out in. It really depends on your timing for everything. If you can stay at the house and arrive to your ceremony the time you need to be there then don't waste the money. If they have a room you can hang out in that won't cost you extra then go for it.

For me I just couldn't bare to spend more money on something not totally necessary. plus all my girls seemed to have their own agenda and if I had spent the money it probably would have been even more annoying day of. We did have a neighbor offer her home which was awesome. otherwise I would have been at my parents alongside tons of relatives. It is good to have a little space

Yes to bridal suite. It will be a good place to store your bridal party's stuff while the reception is going on.

If you decide to get ready at home and plan to have your photographer there to take getting-ready photos (like your mom or MOH putting you in a dress), make sure your house is CLEAN and you have an area designated for photos. I was just a BM in my cousin's wedding, and she got ready at her mom's house. It was a disaster--not dirty, but just messy. It was impossible to snap a photo that didn't have tons of stuff in the background. The lighting wasn't good, and there wasn't a good place to get photos of her mom helping her into the dress. If you don't care about those few photos, then I wouldn't bother, but a well-laid out bridal suite will work wonders for those photos.

We are getting married at a church and then the reception is a banquet hall. There is no place to get ready at in these venues or to store anything. Since we don't have that, we would either get ready at home or have to rent a room at a hotel.

I would rather get ready at a hotel in a bridal suite. There will be more space, mirrors, bathrooms, etc. You can go there directly from the hair salon, and then all your bags and things will already be at the hotel for you to put into the room for the wedding night.

I'm not getting married in a hotel either. It's a country club , but there's still a bridal suite. One of the perks of this place Smiley smile not to mention the amazing views !

We will be staying at my parents house the week prior to the wedding which is over an hour away from the venue ...so not a good place to get ready there . Which is why I didn't really consider venues that didn't include a bridal suite ...
