Bridal showers and the awesome aunts that throw them....

CHRISSI, on April 1, 2013 at 7:55 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 6

Okay so last post I made here I was a little disappointed in my bridal party because they don't want to/can't afford to throw my bridal shower. But then my aunt sent me a message via fb askin if I was having one and if id like to have her throw it for me...OF COURSE I DO lol so I know planning wise I don't have much to do other than lettin her kno who I want to invite, or so I thought...she asked what type of shower I wanted and how many people....so here's my question(s)...what type of bridal showers did you ladies have and what exactly is the difference....how does the registering process work and what do I register for??....can they be co-ed or is it like a woman's only type thing? Is there anything else I should kno about or try to help with??

    Hi Chrissi,

That is so nice of your aunt to do that for you!! The bridal shower is usually just woman. Sometimes people have themed showers as well. I have worked with women who have had kitchen themed showers and lingerie themed showers. It all depends on what you want! You do not necessarily have to have a theme. If you need items for a new home or apsrtment, you can register for things like that. If you need anymore help feel free to email me *************@*****.***.

That's wonderful so glad that you will have one and get to experience it.

There can be games but you don't have to have them. I've known some couples who did co-ed, but most people do women only. If I had to guess on how long, I'd say 2-3 hours. Lots of times it's a brunch type get-together. Enjoy it!

You can have whatever type of shower you want. Most bridal showers are just for women and you register for household items that you and your husband-to-be will use to furnish/upgrade things in your home. But, I've recently went to a co-ed "wedding shower" where men and women were invited (although not a lot of men showed up).

Typically, the showere last 3-4 hours (give or take) or however long you want. There really are no specific rules on what's supposed to happen or who to invite (that I know of). Most of the time the shower is in the early afternoon (between the hours of like 12pm and 5pm). The few I've been to have been from like 1pm-3pm or 12pm-2pm etc.

You can google "bridal shower games" or search Pinterest. There are TONS of games to do at a bridal shower.

Just have fun, and enjoy everyone celebrate you and your upcoming nuptials!

Oh, and if you have at themed shower, you may want to add alot of things to your registry that coincide with your theme (i.e. lingerie shower, cookware shower, recipe shower etc.)

    (Just my two cents...)
