Bridal Shower vs Wedding Registry

Hey all, I just got engaged on November 10th and my fiancé and I are starting to plan our wedding. We decided to go the honeymoon registry route and got our registry going through our cruise company so people can fund parts of that. However, I was talking about the bridal shower and my mother said there should be a registry with physical gifts for the shower. Are there separate registries for the shower vs the wedding? Does it matter to have physical gifts to open during the shower?

Traditionally the point of a shower is to "shower" the bride with gifts, so most of your attendees would appreciate a registry to help guide them (maybe items you could use on your cruise: luggage sets, passport holders, day bags, etc.).
