Bridal shower registry ideas- please help!

Lesley, on July 21, 2016 at 2:35 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 19

So I live in a small apartment and will not be getting a house anytime soon so I have NO IDEA what to register for in regards to my bridal shower. My wedding isn't until next year so I have some time, but I was wondering if anyone had any ideas. I cannot fit anymore crap into this apartment.

    Upgrades Upgrades Upgrades!

Also wall decor, accent pillows, and cute throw blankets because YES the one you sewed yourself when you were eleven is adorable, but a nice throw is even better!

Apartments still need towels, sheets, pillows, pots and pans, and dishes. Upgrade the stuff you already have.

Not really that I can think of. It's an apartment so the appliances are old but there's not much I can do about that. I have all the kitchenware, bedroom stuff, and decorations that I can possibly have in my small apartment.

So you have the best possible sheets and towels you could possibly want??

ETA: showers are centered around opening gifts. If you don't register for your shower people will get you whatever THEY want.

Replace old crap! Register for really nice sheets, towels, nice casual dinnerware, bathroom accessories, lamps, etc. I am going trough the same thing. FH and I have a condo we are going to stay in for a while, and already have everything we need! Just go through everything you already own but could use an upgrade. Donate everything that was replaced to the charity of your choosing. Very simple stuff!

I tried to think of the future as well -- what type of heirlooms or nice things would I want to pass down to my daughter? I put a couple crystal vases (on sale on Macy's). And also a set of 10 crystal beverage glasses that I think we will use often when we host family. I'm really excited for those too! I would recommend putting things on there that you wouldn't typically buy yourself. I think lots of people really want to get you something nice that you can have forever.

FH and I did upgrades and some "fun" things. We also spread by word of mouth that we would *love* original artwork, handmade/homemade gifts, and things that cannot be found at a store.

Register for it anyway! You'll need fine and casual china, crystal stemware, nice stainless flatware, a great pot and pan set, kitchen appliances (mixed, food processor, espresso machine if that floats your boat), everyday glassware, bakeware, bed linens, towels, pretty blankets..... There's plenty to register for. It's a good time to pick up a lot of monogrammed stuff with your new last initial! I registered for a bunch of monogrammed glassware and towels. You can look up a registry checklist. Macy's has a good one. Hope this helps!

Register for what you will want and need in the future. It can be stored in the mean time.

We live in a nice house so we have everything we need...or so I thought...I went to the target website and just added all of the most added items all at once just for fun, there are A LOT of things I could upgrade on and a lot of things that I never thought to buy myself but realized how much easier life would be with it. I.E. I make breakfast in bed every Sunday for FH. I use three to four pans. I never thought to buy and electric griddle...

I agree with the upgrades. I've been living on my own for well over a decade and most of my registry is things that should be replaced. Towels, sheets, bakeware, a few small appliances, etc. Look around you place for things that are old or that you don't love and find new versions.
