Bridal Shower Location Ideas...??

Greta, on March 5, 2016 at 8:20 PM Posted in Planning 0 8

My mom wants to throw me a bridal shower, but she lives in another state, so she's asked me and FMIL to recommend/find a place. FMIL suggested an adorable tea house, but because we're doing it the Saturday of Mother's day weekend (the only weekend we could all make it work!), they're full with reservations and unable to accommodate us.

Do you ladies have any suggestions on another good place to hold a bridal shower for 20-30 people? FMIL offered her house, but she lives 45 minutes out of town, so I don't think many invitees will attend.

Where was yours, or have you attended bridal showers at locations that worked out well? Thanks in advance!!

What about a coffee shop? Some will let you make reservations for parties.

My bridesmaid hosted my shower at her home, but I have been to several held at restaurants with private event rooms. They shouldn't be that hard to find but I don't know where you are located.

If you have a Maggiano's by you I would check that out, I have not had a better experience in all of wedding planning than dealing with them (I had to check it out and approve since my sister who is throwing it lives out of state)

We like that they have beautiful private rooms (no room fee, just a minimum spend which is very reasonable), you get a coordinator to decorate, they have amazing food, and you get a bartender.

Wineries or breweries? We have a TON nearby that often will at least reserve tables for you.

Or, do you or any bridal party members live in an apartment/community that may have a community room? Often these can be reserved for free, and even if they aren't hosting the shower they may be able to reserve the space for you all to use.

Some restaurants have private rooms that you don't need to pay extra for. Just the cost of the food

Thank you ladies. I'm located in Portland, OR.

Unfortunately we don't have a Maggiano's, otherwise that sounds like it would've been perfect!

She wanted to keep the cost down (the tea place would've only been $15pp), and most restaurants in my area have a much higher pp price. I'd like our own space as well, just reserving tables wouldn't work.

Love the idea of an independent coffee shop - there's one that popped to mind, I'll see if they'd be willing to do that!

Our wedding shower was in our old train station (it's no longer a working train station, but just a meeting place now) in our hometown. DH and I live in NC (the wedding shower was in CT).

It was beautifully transformed into a wondering wedding shower! And I loved how the location was very unique - the invitations looked like old train ride ticket (stubs).

ETA: It was $50 to rent the place out (and since we knew the people who rent it out, we were able to get it for an extra day for free). My sister and our moms were able to get food catered by a family friend who is a chef, to keep costs down.

It is so funny, I am having my bridal shower the same day (May 7th) and have been having the same problem in the portland area due to mother's day. It is tricky! My MOH was looking at bottle and bottega (for painting and wine) and some other restaurants but all of their separate rooms were booked because of mother's day. What we ended up having to do is throw it at my step-moms apartment in the pearl which has an event space. A lot of restaurants like Mother's and Veritable Quandary are booked for the weekend. We didn't go so far as to check, but you may want to look at hotels, Gracies, The Nines (Urban Farmer), The Heathman etc. serve food/appetizers/drinks etc. but May have more meeting rooms that are available. They can all add up if everyone orders a full meal though.

It looks like you posted this a little bit ago, so hopefully you have found something!
