Bridal shower invites- does the bride get one?

Jenny, on April 17, 2017 at 6:37 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 25

Just wondering- does the bride typically get an invite mailed to her for the bridal shower?Obviously it's assumed she will be there since she's the guest of honor, but isn't just kind of a nice thing to do and mail her one also?

The reason I ask is that my sister mailed out invites last week (she and my best friend are co-hosting), and the only way I found out that invites were sent was today at work when my coworker told me she got hers in the mail over the weekend. My sister mailed one to the co-host and my mom, but not me. I am a little surprised my sister didn't send one to me, but maybe I'm over-reacting?

My mom asked my sister about it and my sister just said: "I figured she could just look at yours."

Thoughts ???

I would want one, but I can see my sister (also my MOH and hosting my shower) forgetting that I would be included in the guest count for those. I don't think it's a big deal and wouldn't hold it against her. Can you not ask your sis if she has an extra? Or if not see if one of your friends can give you theirs after the fact if not so you can have it as a momento?

If I was planning a bridal shower, yes I would send an invite to the bride. But what's done is done, it's not really a big deal. I wouldn't say anything to anyone because that's just going to cause drama in some way or another. It's really not a big deal at all.

I didn't get invites sent to me, but my mom did and the hosts have saved one for me. I know the dates, times and locations so I didn't think anything about not getting something in the mail

I got an invite because I asked for it. I think it makes a nice keepsake, and I kept mine on the fridge to remind FH because he tends to be forgetful. He also needed to come towards the end to say thank you and to help take the gifts home.

I mailed one to my sister when I threw her shower and gave her an extra without postal stamps as a keepsake. I think it's nice to send it to the bride, but not necessary since you (hopefully) know and have cleared the date.

None of the shower is a secret except for the decor, food, and games. We all discussed venue, day, time, etc together.

I texted my sister and just asked if she could send me one if she had extras. She said ok Smiley smile so, I guess problem solved! Thank you everyone for making me realize it's not such a huge deal!

For my surprise shower, I have no idea if there were invitations or what they looked like.

For my other shower, the hostess that handled the invitations told me that she was making an extra invitation for me so I would have it as a keepsake. I never expected that it would be mailed to me, just that she would hand it to me at some point. Unfortunately, she still hasn't given it to me.

I was sent one so I knew the details: time, date, place, etc.

At this point just ask your sister if she has an extra!

I got one for my shower, which was just an evite. a family friend threw an engagement party for us and we got a paper invite for that one as well. makes sense for logistics as well as being good manners Smiley smile

The host of my shower didn't mail one to me or my mom! I thought that was extremely odd. I had my FMIL text me a picture of the invite so I knew what time the shower started.

My sister mailed me one. I also saw the copy while she was designing it too though.

For me, it's not a big deal. I know the date and I'm not concerned about having a physical invite. If you're someone who wants an invite for the keepsake part, maybe just ask her to save one for you. Nothing to overthink about.

I got one but that was because it wasn't a surprise shower. When we've thrown surprise showers the bride never got an invite, obviously. You can see if your sis can keep one for you as a keepsake.
