Bridal shower attire... white or not?

Greta, on March 21, 2016 at 5:49 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 41

I always assumed the bride-to-be wears white at their bridal shower. I found a white (ivory, really) dress I want to wear - and when I showed my mom, she innocently asked me why I planned on wearing white.

I guess I just always assumed that would be the case... but now I'm questioning that. I like the idea of wearing white, because I'll (probably?) be the only one wearing that color... and since I rarely wear all white, and it's obviously bridal looking, it seems appropriate.

So my question to you ladies is... did you wear, or do you plan on wearing, white to your shower? If no, then what color?

I wore an eggshell kind of colored dress, outside of my norm for sure.

I plan on wearing white! Not sure what the rules are but i feel is rare I can wear white without feeling a bit self conscious. I want to be in white and feel bridal and see absolutely no harm in that!

I'm planning on wearing white. It's been one of the most pleasant wedding type experience with my mom. We were out shopping for her and she saw this white dress. I tried it on and loved it.

Wasn't dead set on white tho. I was just going to wear a dress from my closet. ETA:Im also planning on bringing it on the honeymoon and will dye it a different color to re-use after. I love rit dye!

I had never known it was a thing to wear white to your shower until I got on the forums here. I do not plan on wearing white and I will probably just wear something that I already have in my closet

I wore a navy blue dress with a white cardigan. I always thought it was more tradition to wear white to the rehearsal than the shower!

I'm wearing a white dress with a denim jacket. Would never wear white any other time.

I wore white and I think most girls do. At least, most of the showers I've been to (that weren't surprises) the bride wore white!

Wear white if you want. Especially if you never wear that color.

I feel like it's kind of a newer trend for the bride to wear white at the shower (like within the last 5 years or so). I didn't just because I couldn't find a white dress that I liked enough.

I'm wearing white, only because I love the look of white dresses but feel silly wearing them other times. Definitely wear whatever you feel happy and comfortable in, the color doesn't matter.

I'm not wearing white because I didn't want to spend money on a dress I'll never wear again. I never wear white (I'm clumsy and spill things all the time lol). I got a coral dress, since coral is our main wedding color. I don't think it's necessary to wear white at all. In fact, I didn't know this was a "thing" until I joined WW.

My shower was on Saturday and I didn't wear white. I wore my favorite color.. Pink!! To go with the vibrant colors in the winery where my Shower was.

I'll probably wear something summery or floral. I will wear a short white dress for our RD, though!

My dress was a cream floral top with navy skirt and matching navy and floral shoes. It was super cute.

I get the thought of white for the Bride-to-Be but frankly it's not my color and there are so many things out there way cuter. Plus if anyone at the shower doesn't know you're the bride, then why are they at your shower?
