So I saw a comment on here that said that if no one offers to throw you a bridal shower just do it yourself. So I saw a comment on here that said that if no one offers to throw you a bridal shower just do it yourself. Last night at dinner I told my aunt night I was planning a small bridal shower with close friends and family. She said they (I do not know who they are) were planning on giving me a surprise bridal shower. Is that how it is supposed to be, is it supposed to be a surprise? I kind of wanted to have a say of who I wanted there. I literally want less than 10 close friends and family at a nice restaurant for brunch or something. How does bridal shower hosting work? Can I host or does someone else host? I have not had too many friends have any pre-wedding events. Thanks

My bridal party threw mine. All I told my MOH was I wanted a brunch, no games, and I couldn't have a surprise since I work weekends and needed to ensure I'd be off. So I picked a date around my BP and coworkers vacations, and let them handle everything else. My MOH knows me, and kept it very small and simple. Trust the people around you!

@tarheel729 thanks for the feedback. Sorry if I came off as rude it's just irritating when I ask for advice and explain the situation and I don't get advice that helps come with a solution. Like someone suggested a welcome reception and it helped me navigate what to do now.
