Bridal Show winners of wedding bands, 3 day trip, and flute glasses. Is this real?

Kearsten, on April 25, 2017 at 7:15 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 12

I received a call today from NHI International, saying I was the winner in a drawing done from a bridal show I attended a couple weeks back. The winning items were a set of wedding bands, a 3 day trip (either in the country or outside the country), and customized champagne flute glasses.

My fiancé and I attempted to research this agency and they seem to exist but the website looks a little off. It is also some sort of cooking ware for Bridal registries, so that's part of the stipulation to receive the gifts- to sit through a sample session of their products and fill out a survey in them.

It all seems too good to be true, so we are unsure if we should attend our set appointment with them this Thursday.

Has anyone had this occur to them or have any thoughts to offer?

Thank you! Smiley smile

It's a pyramid scheme. Lots of horror stories about couples who are out thousands of dollars from this. Please be careful!

This is a SCAM. It's a pyramid scheme sales pitch. Don't waste your time.

Use the search feature on the Wedding Wire forums (desktop only) and search NHI International. Many people have posted about their experiences.

Basically, it's a hard sell and can get uncomfortable. You have to sit through a demonstration and at the end they try and get you to buy super expensive cookware. I think it's hundreds if. It thousands of dollars. If you have to buy pots and pans on an installment plan, it's not worth it. You can get good quality items for much less.

It's kind of like a time share presentation.

Even though you win the trip, you still have to pay taxes on all the prizes plus airfare. You'd spend almost the same amount of money just buying the rings and flutes and paying for the vacation yourself.

My FH and I actually just went to the presentation on Saturday. It's for Kitchen Charm Cookware. They offer you an 8pc set for $2490 or an 11pc set for $2990 and they take payment plans of $80-100/mth. The free hotel or resort requires you to pay a deposit before you can even book the trip. Check in has to be on a Monday or Tuesday. And of course you are responsible for the taxes.

The champagne flutes have a $19.95 shipping fee, but if you do a quick browse for engraved champagne flutes that's about how much they cost, most with free shipping. So you're not saving anything.

The wedding bands have a $50 shipping fee. They ran out of the cards so I should be getting one in the mail this week.. But from what I've read, a lot of people had trouble redeeming the discount code.

So I wouldn't recommend attending unless you have free time and are in the market for new kitchenware.

It was called something else when I "won" all those things but it wasn't worth it

You sit through a 2 hr sales pitch on pots and pans. That cost a few thousand dollars with high interest. If your good at saying no then you should go for the “free” stuff!

Lol it’s not a pyramid scheme, you get the free items and pay tax on them. Still better than nothing.
I wouldn’t buy the items, just go for the free stuff.
