Bridal show scam or glam?

Shelby, on January 17, 2016 at 10:31 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 17

Went to a bridal show today and won an all inclusive 4 day 3 night honeymoon all we have to do is go to a cooking demonstration hosted by nutrichef usa. Anyone had anything simular to them happen? Did I get lucky or are they trying to get us to buy something?

They're going to HOUND you to buy something. Extremely high pressure sales pitch.

We had something similiar. We had to go to a vacation presentation and they tried to get you to purchase all these week long vacations and kept arguing with us when we told them no.

I was drawn in by a similar company at a bridal show. They told me I was entering for cooking lessons for me and FH. But it was really just for a cooking demonstration and then they try to sell you cookware in exchange for "prizes" which I didn't find out until they called me the next day to tell me I had "won."

We went to one. They tried to get us to buy the cookware. We said no thanks, got our vacation voucher and left. Was not high pressure at all.

It depends. There usually is a vacation if they are legit but the process to obtain the voucher for it is hellish. They will pressure you and you will feel "forced" to get something. They usually tell you it isn't a sale pitch and no signature is required(which it usually isn't) but it is a horrible experience.

Usually a hard sell. Gird you're loins of you want it, you'll have to fight for it.

I think it depends on the seller. Ours literally said that he'd sit in the back for whoever was interested in the cookware, and if you weren't he'd just hand you the certificate.

We actually went to one today! We got a three day two night vacation in either Bahamas, DR, or Costa Rica at the vita Wyndham hotels and we choose the Bahamas. The guy was awesome and we got a few little Extras and food that he cooked. Smiley smile I guess it depends on the company.

I've heard that you actually do get a free vacation, IF you are able to schedule it, but then if you want to add additional days, at the same resort, the pricing is very high. I.e. You get 3 nights but want to stay 6; those extra 3 days may end up costing you as much as 6 would, if you paid for them yourself.

We were told we won, but I wasn't able to schedule to demo because of my work schedule. The lady said she would put me on the list for the next time they were in town. That was months ago and there have been two additional bridal shows since then. I don't think they're calling back.

I went to one of these shows and whether you buy something or not you still get the trip. If you buy something they upgrade your trip. It was a really good cooking demonstration, I really wanted the pots but they were really expensive. The trips they offered were pretty good as well. You just have to call a couple of months a head of time to reserve the trip and I believe you can only leave on certain days. I have a friend who used hers and she had no problems
