Bridal Show Scam??? Help!

Clarissa, on September 23, 2019 at 6:48 PM Posted in Planning 0 7

So I went to a bridal show this week, and I got a call from a veht and this morning saying that I won some gifts and that they would really to give them to me, but me and my fiance have to sit through a 90 minute presentation (I think the company is called Celebrity China and Cookware) and then we get our prizes. I gave them a call back explaining that they left a voicemail saying that I won a drawing at the bridal show that I went to, and they told me that I won two champagne flutes and like a weekend getaway vacation that is paid for to various locations. I was excited at first, but I started to get concerned of because of my sense of "this all sounds too good to be true" kicked in, and then I started to pay attention that the person (let's say her name is Mary) the caller ID is not in the same location as I live, I know there are other possibilities of maybe she possibility moved to where I'm from, but the phone number is kind of a red flag for me. I have also read so many mixed reviews about this company that I don't know what to believe in all honesty. I just really don't want to get sucked into a scam, a part of me really wants to take a chance on sitting through a 90 minute presentation so we can get our prizes but a part of me feels like this offer doesn't even seem real or too good to be true. So I guess what I'm wondering is if anybody has been scammed by this company or if anybody has gone through this and hasn't gotten their prizes. Please tell me your experiences, I really need some input about this.

Scam scam scam. All of those bridal show ‘wins’ are scams. I won cruise at one. By the time you added up all the fees, it would’ve been cheaper to just book with the cruise line.

I wouldn’t do it! It’s so sad that we have to second guess everything anymore, but, it’s the way it is! “Better safe than sorry”

As annoying as it is, my husband used to work for a company that does stuff similar to this. From experience, yes if you sit through their presentation you will get what you’re promised. But with the trip, there’s usually a lot of terms and conditions. Such as you can only book on off seasons, and it has to be from a list they have. The phone number appears like that, because they generally use automated dialers that use different number every time they call, it’s a thing telemarketers do.

I went to one where my bridesmaid got that prize. We didn't go claim it because we read we had to sit thru those presentations.

This literally happened to us about a month ago. They said we won a 3 day trip and had to come and sit through a presentation. BUT Then she said they would need a credit card to pay for the trip and then they would reimburse us after the trip....how about NO
